This we’re reminding everyone that smoking related fires can start easily and spread quickly. A few simple steps can save lives and reduce the risk of a fire in your home:

🚭 Discarded smoking materials are a major cause of accidental fires. Always fully extinguish them and dispose of them safely.
🔌 Never leave e-cigarettes or v**e devices charging unattended or overnight.
🚬 Don’t leave a lit cigarette, cigar, or pipe lying around, they can fall over and ignite furniture or carpets.
🛏️ Never smoke in bed

Taking small steps today can protect your health, your home and the people you care about. Find out more on our website, see link in comments.

Thursday 12th March is World Kidney Day, a day when we celebrate those who have donated their kidneys and remember those who are waiting for a life-saving kidney transplant.

Last year, over 2,000 organ transplants were kidneys, but there are still almost 7,000 people waiting for a kidney transplant today.

Sadly, the reality is that someone will die waiting for a kidney. By confirming your decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register, in just 2 minutes, you could end up saving a life.

Today we’re highlighting what to share with your GP about your family history of .

If someone in your family has had bowel cancer, you may feel worried about the risk of you and your family having bowel cancer too.

Most cases of bowel cancer aren’t passed down through families, but your risk might be higher if you have a close relative such as a parent, sibling or child who has been diagnosed with the disease. If you’re unsure about your risk or what this means for you, we’re here to support you.

If you pop out, even to grab a towel, and your child goes under the water, you won’t hear it. Drowning is silent. And can happen very quickly.

Sadly, one child a month drowns at home. Usually in the bath.

You can stop this happening by staying with your baby or young child all the time they’re in the bath.

Keep them within arm’s reach to keep them safe. And if you need to go anywhere, take them out of the bath and with you.

The 4Ts are signs of type 1 diabetes in children (and adults).

They’re simple to remember and if you spot any of these signs, at any time, see a doctor for a diabetes test immediately:

Toilet (increased wees and wet nappies or unusual bed wetting) 🚽
Thirsty (drinking lots) 💧
Tired (more than usual) 😴
Thinner (the child may look or feel thinner or their clothes may be looser) ⚖️

While these symptoms don’t always mean diabetes, they should be checked immediately. As if type 1 diabetes is left undiagnosed, it can make you really ill, really quickly and lead to a potentially fatal condition called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

Please hit share and help spread awareness of the 4Ts.

Together, we can save lives.
