On New Years Eve we said goodbye to Dr Itoro Silva who is leaving us for pastures new.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with him and we will all miss him.

He's been a great addition to the team and we are sure patients will miss him as much as we will.

New NHS data shows a rise in winter virus cases – including flu – in hospitals last week. Flu can be serious, especially for those at higher risk.

Flu vaccines don’t stop everyone from catching flu, but they do reduce the risk of becoming seriously unwell, needing hospital care or developing complications – especially for older adults and those with health conditions.

Over 18.6 million flu vaccines have been given this season. If you’re eligible and haven’t had yours yet, it’s not too late to get protected.

MMRV is now part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme, replacing the MMR vaccine.

It protects against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox.

Chickenpox is very common and can sometimes lead to serious complications, so vaccination helps reduce the risk of serious illness as children grow.

You don’t need to do anything — your GP will be in touch when your child is due.
