We have had this sweet girl for 2 weeks now. We have done everything possible to find her owner - shared on facebook and posted flyers into local houses from where she was found in Howden, but sadly no one has come forward for her. We are appealing for her forever home!

Penny is a young adult, she has been neutered, microchipped, started her vaccination course and recieved up to date flea and worming treatment. She is incredibly sweet and loving, purring and wanting to be stroked. She is not a very playful cat, we think she would love a home where she can be lap cat and have lots of tlc! She is not cat or dog tested but there is potential she could live with them through very slow introductions.

An adoption fee will apply, to go towards covering the costs of her neutering and preventative care. Please email info@endcottagevets.co.uk if you are interested in giving Penny a loving home. Thank you 😊

🌟🐾 MEET THE TEAM 🐾🌟

Emma Osborne Senior RVN

"I have been in the Veterinary profession for 20 years, starting my career in a small animal practice in North Yorkshire where I did my training and qualified with the College Of Animal Welfare in 2011. I have been at End Cottage since 2012.

My interests in practice are emergency care, anaesthesia and anything feline! 🐈
I am the cat friendly advocate for the practice.

Out of work I enjoy walking my Jack Russell Pepper, looking after my 3 rescue cats (all strays from End Cottage!), and spending time with my husband and two children.

I have also recently started flyball with Pepper and we are really enjoying it!"

MISSING - DRAX - please share!

Update 1st February - Keith is still missing 😒

Keith, belonging to our RVN Holly, has been missing since yesterday morning (Sunday 18th), which is extremely unlike him!

He is 9 years old, black and white, domestic shorthair, chipped and neutered. He is missing from Drax. If you see him, or have any information on his whereabouts please contact Holly directly via email - holly.allitt@endcottagevets.co.uk or contact the practice on 01430 431758.

If you live in Drax, we kindly ask you to check your sheds/garages/outbuildings incase he is stuck.

He has distinctive markings including a black spot on his nose. Please come home safely Keith ❀️

Gorgeous boy Teddy enjoying belly rubs from our RVN Cat this evening πŸ₯° Teddy was neutered today, alongside having investigations into history of haematuria (blood in the urine).

Thankfully no bladder stones were seen on X-ray, however ultrasound and urinalysis revealed lots of urinary crystals within his bladder.

A urine sample has been sent away to our external laboratory for further testing to determine the best type of treatment for Teddy’s condition. He’s been a very brave and good boy πŸ₯°

15/01/2026

🦴 Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease where the protective cartilage within the joint breaks down causing pain, stiffness and inflammation. OA is a progressive and incurable condition that effects older pets, and in some cases younger pets due to factors such as genetics, injury or obesity. Management of OA involves a combination of pain relief, modified exercise, adaption of the home environment and weight management.

Our RVN's offer a full osteoarthritis management clinic which includes:
🐢 Discussion on weight and body condition score
🐱 Muscle assessment
🐱 Any behavioural changes
🐢 The home environment and ways to help your pet feel more comfortable in the house
🐱 Pain scoring and discussion of pain management

The nurse will observe how your pet walks and perform a gait analysis which allows them to determine how your pet weight-shifts and if they compensate their weight onto a specific limb. Once the nurse has made their assessment, they will then provide you with extensive advice and create a physio plan specific to your pets’ needs.

🦴 If you believe your pet is suffering from arthritis and is not currently on medication, we would advise you to book a consultation with a Vet for a full health check, clinical examination and discussion. If your pet has been diagnosed with the condition and you would like further advice on how to help your pet at home, please call us to book in.

Take the Zoetis assessment through the links below to see if your pet is displaying signs of osteoarthritis:

Cat owners ➑️ https://www.zoetispets.com/en-gb/cat-healthcare/arthritis-quiz/

🐾 The cost of our OA nurse clinics are £37.50 which includes 3 sessions, typically 45 minutes long. If you would like to book in, or for any further information please call us on 01430 431758 😊🐾

** we have received a lot of interest in Rosie and Jim, please bear with us while we go through all enquiries **

We are working with a local fosterer to find these 2 kittens a loving home. An adoption fee will apply for them, please call the practice on 01430 431758 if you would like to meet them 😊

Here is what the fosterer has said about them! -

These two little scoundrels are Rosie and Jim, now 15 weeks old, they were born in a barn to a young feral mum. They, and mum, have been living with a foster family since before their eyes were open and are now very confident around people, cats and a large gentle Labrador. They are total cuddle monsters and have really loud purrs whenever they are picked up or stroked! They use the litter tray reliably, have completed their course of vaccinations and been microchipped. Rosie is the smaller of the pair, she is bright, inquisitive and always getting into mischief. Her brother Jim is much more laid back and is a real lap cat, loving nothing more than to sit purring on a knee and be snuggled. Both kittens love to follow their fosterers around and get involved in every activity that is happening around the house. These two kittens are the very best of friends and one is never seen without the other following closely behind. We would prefer that they go to their new home together.

Nessie would like to let everyone know that the temperatures are dropping this week, with forecasts of snow on the way!

Here are some winter tips to help keep your pet safe and warm during this cold period β˜ƒοΈ

❄️ Ensure your dog is visible in the dark by using flashing collars/tags, hi-vis jacket or reflective collar and lead. Keep them warm via the use of dog jumpers/coats (if tolerated by your dog)
❄️ Snow & frost can be unusual and exciting for dogs so please make sure it is safe before walking them or letting them off the lead
❄️ Take care when walking dogs in icy conditions, to prevent slipping and causing injuries. Please take extra care if your dog is arthritic - older dogs are more susceptible to the cold, especially their joints, so shorter walks are most suited
❄️ Allow your cat to spend more time indoors, they often prefer to sleep in a warm room this time of year
❄️ Please keep guinea-pigs and rabbits warm if they live outside. They are very susceptible to the cold so please keep them warm and sheltered, or bring them inside if possible. Snugglesafe heat pads are great for small furries, and also providing insultation to their water-bottles so they do not freeze
❄️ Be aware of cats seeking warmth from car engines

Remember:
⚠️ Anti-freeze (common de-icer) is toxic to both dogs and cats. Please use this mindfully and clean up any spillages. If you think your pet could have ingested antifreeze, please call us urgently!
⚠️ Rock salt (road grit) is also toxic if ingested. Make sure to wash your dogs paws when getting in from a walk. This also applies to cats if you believe they have been in an area where the roads/paths have been gritted.
