Matured reflex connections allow us to accomplish tasks with ease and without undue stress. They allow us to reach our potential and experience happiness.
Neurodevelopmental therapy: Primitive Reflex Integration, Brain Gym®, Safe & Sound Protocol, Rest & Restore Protocol & The Listening Program Provider - getting to the root cause of challenges brain & body boost is based in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire, helping both children and adults to overcome learning, sensory, emotional and behavioural challenges. I can help with many challenges including auti
sm, ADHD, dyspraxia, dyslexia, learning difficulties, anxiety, depression, concentration, attention and focus, and general delays in reading & writing through Rhythmic Movement Training (RMTi) and also the Safe & Sound Protocol. RMTi addresses retained primitive reflexes which impact on everyday life and ability to learn with commonly reported benefits being: improved: co-ordination, concentration, academic ability and progress, handwriting, speech and language, reading and mathematics, emotional stability, ability to sit still, forward planning, reduction of anxiety, anger and depression, and improved energy levels. Everyday tasks become easier leading to improved self confidence and a happier home / school / work life.
“When reflexes integrate they form vital neurological connections that underscore every thought, movement, and behaviour therefore retained reflexes can impact normal tasks we take for granted....”
“.....the stress and hopelessness felt by the individual who struggles to cope with an unintegrated reflex system can be overwhelming – the benefits of getting the system ‘back in tune’ are immeasurable.....”
“Primitive reflexes and the level of their integration determine our quality of life - from our ability to move freely to our level of cognition. When our primitive reflexes are matured or fully integrated, one will typically think clearly, have the ability to behave appropriately, and move smoothly. When one or more reflexes fail to mature or integrate and work synergistically with the nervous system, neurological conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, `cerebral palsy, or ADHD may exist. Immature reflexes can be found in numerous neurological conditions which will benefit from integration techniques....”

Whilst the Safe & Sound Protocol helps us to feel more safe in our world alloings us to socially engage and therefore engage with learning and also benefit more from other therapies - other benefits seen with the Safe & Sound Protocol include improved auditory processing, reduced sensitivity to sound, improved attention and focus, reduced social stress, and can help with anxiety and trauma related challenges. Based on Dr Porges’ Polyvagal theory, there is no other auditory programme like it. The three pathways through the protocol enable a highly personalised experience ensuring that appropriate route can be taken for each individual.

Brilliant post on crawling and it's importance - if your child missed the crawling stage / bum shuffled / trialled a leg there are therapeutic movements that can fill the developmental gap - pop me a message to find out more :-)

🔎 RESEARCH SPOTLIGHT 🔎
📚 When children struggle academically, we often focus on tutoring.
🧠 But what if the foundation is neurological?
🏫 A 2022 study found significant correlations between retained primitive reflexes (especially ATNR) and poorer scholastic performance in early elementary students.
📣 When the nervous system isn’t organised, learning becomes harder.
🤚🏼 Before we push for more effort, more focus, or more discipline - we may need to build the neurological foundation first.
📚 Movement can change access to learning.

Scary!
Oh, this is worth thinking about 💔

📣 Children who have difficulty with paying attention, focusing, organizing and comprehending are labeled with having ADD or ADHD.
📣 Often medication is prescribed for these behaviors. However, it is important to note that we think these behaviors are, at their foundation, an immaturity of the 🧠 brain 🧠 rather than a medical condition.
📣 It is normal for young children to be very active and fidget and wriggle. It takes time to develop the ability to be able to be still and focus and pay attention for periods of time.

➡️ Is your child struggling with meltdowns, anxiety, or sensory overwhelm?
It may not be “behavior”—it may be the nervous system asking for help.
🌱 Discover how RMTi’s gentle rhythmic movements support sensory processing, emotional regulation, and motor development from the foundation up.
⭐ What a great weekend with a fantastic group coteaching RMTi Making Connections 🧠 covering how basic RMTi movements help build neurology & neural maturity:
🧠 How the brain develops connections between hindbrain, midbrain & forebrain to enable prefrontal cortex to establish ability to coordinate actions, feeling & thoughts
🧠 Impact of stress on neural development
🧠 How RMTi movements can help the brain stem, cerebellum, basal ganglia, limbic system and neocortex (plus some other areas of the brain) function optimally
Thanks to Janice Graham for travelling up to Huddersfield, and to the group for their fantastic energy!

👶 Let's strike that perfect balance! Make sure to mix those car seat adventures with plenty of playtime on the floor.
🌟 Giving babies the freedom to move helps them strengthen essential reflexes and lays the groundwork for a lifetime of learning and growth.
