You may have seen recent coverage across the BBC and national newspapers regarding a large corporate funeral provider being accused by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) of misleading practices involving customer reviews (fake reviews).

We understand that news like this can be unsettling when you’re trying to make important decisions for your family.

As an Independent funeral home, we want to reassure you that every review you see on our Facebook and Google Review page is 100% genuine - shared by real families who have used our services.
We do not edit, influence, or filter feedback in any way.
What you read reflects honest, unbiased experiences from the people we have had the privilege to support.

Choosing a funeral director is an incredibly important decision, and families deserve to feel confident that what they are reading is accurate and written by real people who have genuinely used funeral services.

Thank you for your continued trust and support.

🌼🌷
The first day of Spring is almost upon us.
The light is lingering a little longer; the air is beginning to shift, and subtle signs of change are appearing - even if winter hasn’t fully released its grip.

Grief can feel much the same. You may notice moments of steadiness followed by unexpected waves of sadness. Small bursts of energy may come, only to be followed by exhaustion.
This back-and-forth is the natural rhythm of a heart learning to carry both loss and life at the same time.

Grief does not follow the calendar. It moves at its own quiet pace, asking only that you meet yourself with patience and care.
There is no need to rush your healing or to match the brightness of the season around you.

If today feels tender, let it be tender. If a small moment of light finds its way in, you are allowed to welcome that too, without guilt. Both can exist together; the ache of what has been lost and the quiet possibility of what still remains.

Be gentle with yourself as you navigate this changing season. You are not behind, you are not doing it wrong - you are simply grieving, and that in itself is an act of love.

🌸 Preparing for Mother's Day - Sunday 15th March🌸

Mother’s Day can stir up a lot of emotions when you’re grieving, and it’s okay to approach it in a way that feels right for you.

Here are some gentle, practical ideas to help you prepare for Sunday:

🩶 Allow yourself to feel

You might experience sadness, anger, numbness, or even moments of joy; all of these are valid.

🩶 Plan the day in advance

Think about whether you want to mark the day quietly, spend it with supportive people, or keep busy with activities that bring comfort. Having a plan can help reduce anxiety about the unknown.

🩶 Create a personal ritual

Light a candle, look through photos, write a letter, or cook a favourite meal in their memory. Small acts of remembrance can bring a sense of connection.

🩶 Limit exposure to triggers

Shops, adverts, music and social media can be overwhelming. It’s okay to mute notifications, avoid certain places, or take a break from online spaces.

🩶 Reach out for support

Connecting with others who understand your loss can be incredibly helpful. Reach out to friends or family members who have experienced the loss of a parent, or consider joining a support group or online community where you can share your feelings and find comfort in the experiences of others.
You don’t have to carry the weight alone.

🩶 Be kind to yourself

Don’t place yourself under too much pressure to be 'OK'. Emotions come and go like waves; they can wash over us and seem overwhelming. Allow yourself to feel and experience and know that in time, the waves will eventually recede.

📣 Important Notice 📣

From 1st April 2026, Kirklees and Calderdale Councils will be increasing their fees, including cremation fees, burial fees, grave purchase fees, live stream services etc.

Unfortunately, these charges are set by the local authorities and are completely outside of our control.

However, we would like to reassure our families and community that our Funeral Director fees will remain the same, with no increases as they have been for the past 3 years.

Many of you will also know that last year we introduced a mid-range funeral package, designed to make our services accessible to more families and to provide additional choice during what can already be a difficult time.

We understand that many people are feeling the impact of the rising cost of living (us included), and supporting our community remains at the heart of what we do.

Rest assured that our prices will remain unchanged, and we will continue to provide the same caring, professional service you have always known.

A day traditionally known for reflection, gathering together, and of course, enjoying a pancake (or two!).
Whether you prefer yours sweet or savoury, we hope today brings you a little comfort, connection and time with those who matter.
