When does it become fair to talk openly about no shows?
This morning alone we have had 3 no shows and 2 cancellations. Cancellations happen because life gets in the way and we completely understand. But not turning up without letting us know really affects small businesses like ours. A quick call or message makes a huge difference and helps us offer appointments to others who need them.
On a more positive note, since I now have an unexpected 2 and a half hours free, it is a good time to mention that we are exploring ways to increase availability for our loyal patients, including an out of hours service by appointment only.
Just last Wednesday at 7pm, a patient broke his glasses and needed to drive to work the next day. I came back to the practice, tested his eyes, and made a temporary pair so he could get to work safely the following morning. It is moments like these, when people truly appreciate the extra care, that make what we do worthwhile.
