Chronic pain rarely begins as pain.

It often starts in a body that was once familiar.
Capable. Reliable.
Then something changes — an injury, stress, illness, or a season that asks too much for too long.

At first, the body adapts.
It compensates. It pushes through.
Until one day, symptoms stop leaving.

What many people don’t see is the in-between:
The confusion of “Why isn’t this settling?”
The grief of a body that no longer responds the same way.
The quiet strength it takes to keep showing up to life while carrying discomfort no one else can measure.

Chronic pain isn’t a failure of the body.

It’s often the story of a system that has been trying to protect, adapt, and survive.

And the people living in these bodies are not brave because they have no choice in this —
They are strong because they continue, even when choice was taken away.

There is no virus that “only” causes serious harm in people who are high-risk. And even if there were, it would still be important to protect yourself and others. As virus spread remains high (and even when it’s lower), please take steps to prevent getting and spreading illness in order to protect your own health and the health of others.

You might think I’m being super boring……but I need to protect my patients.

Across the UK, flu admissions have recently spiked: on average 1,717 people a day are in hospital beds with flu. RSV is circulating at “medium” levels, with rising admissions among young children aged 0–4. COVID-19 remains present in the community too.

It’s easy to think “it’s just a cold” or "well im not vulnerable"— but when RSV, Flu and Covid all spread easily, “just a cold” can quickly become something serious for those most at risk..... Who is in my clinic room after you? Droplets linger in the air for hours after you leave.

That’s why we continue to complete a COVID screening a few days before your appointment. It isn’t about fear — it’s about responsibility and care.

If you’re feeling unwell:
✅ Stay home if you can
✅ Wash hands often & use hand-sanitiser
✅ Ventilate indoor spaces if possible
✅ Consider a mask if you have symptoms

This is how we look out for everyone, especially those who depend on us.
