Therapy Avenue

Therapy Avenue Welcome to Therapy Avenue, a private practice based near St Neots and Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire offering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR.

Fully qualified and accredited therapist offering EMDR and CBT to treat anxiety, depression, OCD, panic PTSD, phobias, low self esteem and other mental health difficutlites. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a short term, structured talking therapy. Unlike many other approaches, its main focus is on the current day and how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours impact your overall wellbeing. This does not mean past events are ignored, often they provide clues and explanations for what is happening, and how you are feeling, today. Unfortunately, we cannot change the past, but we can learn new ways and strategies to deal with those experiences allowing us to create a brighter future. Often small changes can create significant improvements, and CBT can provide many tools to implement change. It also provides you with the knowledge, resources, and skills to become your own future therapist.

I am likely to have two or three slots available in the coming month for EMDR or CBT. Sessions can be face to face or online. Feel free to take a look at my website or pop me a message to find out more. I'm always happy to have a telephone chat, and there's never any pressure to book after, in fact I will suggest that you speak to a few more therapists to help make sure you pick the one that's right for you. www.therapyavenue.com.

There are some amazing human beings in this world and I am fortunate that I get to meet them on a daily basis. I have just held a final therapy session with someone and they have given me an extra £200 pound and asked me to offer 4 people a single therapy session 50% subsidised by them. These sessions could be suitable for someone who is currently on a wait list for therapy but would like some support in the interim, someone who is struggling with anxiety and would like some pointers and understanding on things they could do to help, someone who would like some understanding of how we would treat OCD and some of the steps they could begin to take towards reducing their compulsions, someone who would benefit from learning how avoidance and safety behaviours can perpetuate social anxiety, someone who procrastinates, someone who is struggling to sleep, someone who has recently noticed their lower mood. This is not for ongoing therapy. It is not suitable for someone who has experienced lots of trauma which is likely to be the root cause of the struggles today. It's solution focused, short and swift and you will leave the session with a better understanding of the things you are doing, or not doing, that you probably think are making you feel better, when actually it's likely to be making it worse. I will offer you resources, things to read, videos to watch and ideas for you to try that could really help. The session would cost you £50, with the remaining cost subsidised by this generation donation. Due to my current availability, I am looking to offer two sessions this Thursday and two sessions next Thursday. If this is something you would be interested in, pop me a message and we could have a chat to be sure it would be suitable for you.

Good things come to those who wait! I have been in discussions with this therapist for a number of years, knowing I want him on the team at Therapy Avenue. We are just finalising the last few details before I introduce him in the coming days. As a result there will be some immediate availability for CBT with our new therapist. I have seen a huge increase over the last few years of parents/carers contacting me desperately looking for support for their child. There are not enough resources and services available and often these get prioritised for those who are deemed most at risk and even then they still have months if not years on a waiting list.

I don't know anything about this so it's not a personal recommendation but they are free, and they are online so in my eyes it's worth checking out if any of these topics are affecting you or people you know, love or care for.

I always love my job, but comments like this make me love it just a little bit more. I get to work with the most amazing clients and learn as much from them as they do from me. It's all about the team work.

I hear on a weekly basis how difficult it is for parents/carers to access mental health support for their children. I don't know anything about this so it's not a recommendation as such but it could be worth signing up as its free. There are just a few tickets left but there is also one a couple of days later.

A short information based session for parents to help support the mental health and wellbeing of children & young people
