Ramsey Memory Support Group

Ramsey Memory Support Group The Ramsey Memory Support Group is a warm, welcoming community for anyone affected by memory concerns.

The Ramsey Memory Support Group is led by volunteers with the following aims:
• To offer support to residents and their carers dealing with memory related issues
• To offer inclusive social activities relevant to people with memory problems This includes people living with memory loss, carers, family members, friends, and anyone who simply feels they would benefit from a relaxed, supportive space. We are a volunteer-led group focused on connection, kindness, and wellbeing. Music plays an important role in what we do, helping people feel at ease, spark memories, and enjoy shared moments together. From time to time, visitors from organisations such as Age UK or other local services may join us and be available to chat if someone would like support or guidance. This is not a formal service and doesn’t happen at every session, but support is there when it’s needed. There is no pressure, no expectations, and no judgement — just a friendly space to come together, feel welcomed, and enjoy a moment of calm connection.

💙 Everyone is welcome.

💙 Come as you are.

🌸 Mother’s Day 🌸

Today we celebrate mothers — the women who shaped us, comforted us, taught us, and loved us in ways that stay with us forever.

For many families living with dementia or memory challenges, Mother’s Day can bring a mixture of emotions.
There is love, gratitude, beautiful memories… and sometimes a little sadness too.

But one thing dementia cannot take away is the feeling of love.

A mother may forget a name.
She may forget a date.
But the warmth of a hug, the sound of laughter, the feeling of being cared for — those things still reach the heart.

Today we celebrate every mother:
💛 The mums who are still with us
💛 The mums we remember with love
💛 The mums living with memory loss
💛 And the daughters, sons and carers who continue to give that love back every day

If you are visiting your mum today, hold her hand a little longer.
Share a story.
Play a song she loves.
Look through an old photograph.

Sometimes the smallest moments become the most meaningful memories.

From all of us at Ramsey Memory Support Group, we wish you a gentle and love-filled Mother’s Day. 🌷

Yesterday was more than just a meeting… it was a celebration.

Our anniversary gathering filled the room — truly full, heart and all.
Seeing so many faces, familiar and new, reminded me how far we’ve come together.

We were incredibly blessed by the generosity of local companies, kind-hearted individuals, and supporters who have donated to help keep us going.
Your support doesn’t just pay for a room or refreshments — it keeps connection alive.
And for that, we are deeply, deeply grateful.

We even had live music, which brought something magical to our morning.
The moment the first song started, feet began tapping, hands started clapping, and a few of us sang with absolute confidence… whether we knew the words or not 😄

There were presents, thoughtful gestures, and so much warmth in the space.

Of course, there were also those beautiful, real moments — like when someone was quite certain it was 1974, and honestly… we just smiled and joined them there for a while.
Because sometimes it’s not about correcting.
It’s about connecting.

We laughed.
We sang.
And yes, cake was dunked so enthusiastically that it had to be rescued mid-tea like a tiny dramatic shipwreck 😄

But in between the humour and celebration, there were quiet glances of understanding.
Gentle squeezes of the hand.
People feeling safe.

That is what this group is about.

This community matters.
And every single person who supports it makes it possible. 💛

Today we gather 💛
And every time we do, I’m reminded why this group matters so much.

Dementia can take many things.
But it does not take humour.
It does not take warmth.
And it certainly doesn’t take personality.

Last month someone very confidently told me, “I don’t need my hearing aid — I can hear perfectly!”
He then asked me three times what I’d just said. We both laughed.

These moments are precious.
Real.
Human.

If you’re coming today, we can’t wait to see you.
If you’re unsure — this is your sign.
