It is with sadness that the death is announced of Frank W R Smith, aged 90 years, peacefully at Alexander Scott’s Eventide Home, Huntly on Monday, January 26 2026. Husband of the late Norma Horn, dad of David and Linda, granda to Gavin, Nadya, Jake and Katy, a brother and uncle and fondly remembered by many of all ages as a friend and great companion at social and sporting events. Funeral service at Ian Esslemont Funeral Directors, 3 Chapel Street, Huntly on Monday, February 9 at 2pm. All friends are respectfully invited. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu, if so desired may be given at the chapel door in aid of Marie Curie nurses.

Please, please, please, people do not be fooled by any of these companies promising you the earth for a funeral plan because most have a lot of hidden charges! This has got to stop, yes, it nice to think you are getting something for nothing but this is not normally the case! Then when the time comes the funeral plan (who you have taken it out with - normally a big company) don’t do this area or do not do out of hours removals so the family end up more stressed and the person who has sadly passed has no dignity! How is this allowed when us small companies have to run through hoops just to say we are good enough. Argh infuriates me so much. Please be careful and read the small print. Or ask!!!!
