So here we go!!! 4 of us are doing Peddle, Paddle Peak in July.

After watching my Sister, Brother in law and thier friends raise money for thier daughter, Josie( my niece) and MD UK last year, I couldn’t not join in this year.

Would love to say I am prepared and ready to go but …… 😬. Getting in what training I can when I can. Any support and encouragement would be very gratefully received.

will teach a dynamic 60-minute Mat Class. 🎉

📆 Sunday 12 June 2022
🕙 10 - 11am
⭐ £6 / PF Members & Trainees only ⭐

Book here ➡️ https://loom.ly/xFxIcKA

The class aims to take you from the floor to standing. Giving the body a chance to soften and reset, before going through some familiar Pilates rep and adaptions. Gradually increasing the load and exploring pathways through the body by expanding and growing away from the connections we have with the floor, then making our way onto the feet for some dynamic loading.

You will need: Quite a long band (not too heavy a resistance - but don‘t worry if you don’t have it), overball, tennis ball or softer.

This article was bought to my attention by the wonderful Tansy Blaik-Kelly ( check out their beautiful new studio ‘Turning Tide Pilates’ TTP in Uckfield).

I am obviously a huge advocate of pilates and we have many clients we help with all sorts of challenges including arthritis.

BUT

I appreciate if you are in pain you may roll your eyes at me when I say ‘just keep moving’!!!. It works though, explore movement, it really doesn’t have to be pilates or a set form of exercise. Start with finding something that you like. Just put some music on and move to it ( even if that’s in a chair to begin with, or lying on the floor and rolling around or rocking to the beat). If you find joy in some sort of movement you start to have confidence in your body and your journey begins.

I can’t remember who said it but ‘motion is lotion’.

In some situations in class I mention ‘ imagine your heart and lungs are the roots of the tree and the branches flow and spiral down the arms and through the rest of the body’.

Here is a great image and message to go with that.

Trees are vital. As the biggest plants on the planet, they give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilise the soil and give life to the world's Wildlife. They also provide us with the materials for tools and shelter. 🌱🌿

Hurstpierpoint Pilates Studio

Rebecca Gould and Katy Pendlebury trained together in contemporary dance in the 2000s. Since moving their practices to Sussex, they have joined forces to create Hurstpierpoint Pilates Studio.

“We have both used Pilates to support our bodies through the heavy physical demands of a dance schedule and are passionate about the benefits it can bring – whatever your physical goals.

The beauty of the Pilates repertoire and equipment is that exercises can be tailored to you. Pilates exercise can support you at all stages of life and we teach all abilities from those new to exercise to athletes, to those rehabilitating injuries and people preparing for, or recovering from surgery. We are both qualified to teach pre-, and post-natal Pilates.”

Rebecca Gould has been a member of the Pilates Foundation since 2006 and an SMA associated sports massage therapist since 2009. She offers group and individual sessions (mat and equipment) and 1:1 treatments.
