Have you spent time with your loved ones during the festive period? Are they feeling a bit unsteady or forgetful, or are you concerned about how they are managing at home? Could you or someone you know benefit from some extra support?

If you're worried about a loved one living independently, Papillon Home Care offers a visiting care service that can be scheduled to fit your needs. We provide home support at various times throughout the day—morning, lunchtime, tea time, and bedtime. You can choose from one visit a week to multiple visits per day, adjusting as the needs change.

Papillon Home Care is a CQC-regulated agency, and all of our staff members undergo full DBS checks and receive comprehensive training.

Spending time with a family member or friend in the middle to late stages of Alzheimer’s can be meaningful and fun.

Activities may need to be simplified and time taken, but there are some activities you can do when you visit your loved ones.

Below, we have listed a few simple indoor activities for you to try:
*Listen to the person’s favourite music
*Look at family photo albums
*Watch a favourite sport on television
*Model with play dough
*Complete a puzzle together
*Read from one of their favourite books
*Ask the person about their childhood, siblings, school, pets etc
*Play a card game

Continuing hobbies and interests can help maintain skills and memory functions; music and photos can be powerful ways to relive memories.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia can cause some people to withdraw from activities and enjoyable interactions with family; it is essential to try and maintain those interests and relationships to support people to lead a better and more enjoyable quality of life.
