A message from Ellis
I first joined Tynwald at the age of 16, working weekends while studying for my GCSEs and saving my wages to start learning to drive.
Since then, Tynwald has been a constant part of my life through every milestone — from completing my A Levels, navigating lockdown, and studying for my degree, to celebrating new achievements along the way.
I began as a kitchen assistant and, over time, progressed to the role of cook. This journey has taught me so much — not only about teamwork, responsibility, and resilience, but also about the value of kindness and community in the workplace.
The management team and staff at Tynwald have always been incredibly supportive, caring, and encouraging. Their guidance has helped me grow both personally and professionally, and I’m very grateful for the opportunities they’ve provided and the people I have met.
One moment I’ll never forget is discovering — while at work — that I had achieved a First Class Honours degree. It was such a special experience to share that news with the people who had supported me from the very beginning.
The residents have also played a huge role in my journey. They’ve celebrated my milestones, watched me run marathons and graduate on TV, and have been a constant source of joy and happiness.
After six years, Tynwald will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s been more than just a workplace — it’s been a place where I’ve learned, grown, and built lasting relationships that I’ll always treasure.
I’ll carry everything I’ve learned at Tynwald into the next chapter of my journey, with gratitude and pride for how far I’ve come!
