NELFT Research & Development

NELFT Research & Development Follow us on Twitter: Welcome to the NELFT Research and Development page! What would taking part in research mean for me? Yes. No.

Our team work on the latest research projects in healthcare so that we can improve the services and treatments we can bring to you. On our page you will find the latest info on the research projects currently running at NELFT and opportunities to get involved as well as having the questions you want answered about taking part in research. Your involvement could be as little as one short questionnaire, getting involved in a focus group or being interviewed, or in some cases they can be as long as a couple of years, trialling new types of treatments or therapies and following progress over longer periods of time. Every research project is different. How do I take part? In many cases if you are under the care of one of our services, they can give you information about research projects that may be right for you and refer you to our teams for more information and some research projects have their own web pages. We will put links up here on our page about how to get involved in different research projects at NELFT. Can I ask my clinician about research? The short answer is yes! At R&D we keep our clinicians informed of research trials running in NELFT and if they think there is anything you may be suitable for they can pass on your details to us and we will contact you. If there is not anything suitable at that time, you can ask your clinician to let us know that you consent to be contacted about research projects in the future. Is it confidential? All trial information is kept confidential-each trial will explain this to you in detail before you agree to take part. Do I have to take part? It will always be your choice to part in research if you don’t want to and this goes from the time you find out to the time the research finishes. You always have the right to change your mind, even if you sign up and have been involved for any length of time. Disclaimer:

Can you help increase our understanding of the impact of coronavirus and resultant restrictions/ lockdown on our mental health?

Researchers are asking people to complete a short, 15 minute questionnaire about the impact coronavirus has had on their lives. They will use this information to support our understanding of how our mental health and wellbeing may be being affected by the pandemic but also what may be helpful for people.
