We recently visited the British Museum and came across an exhibit that stopped me in my tracks.

At first glance it looks like an intricately woven cloth. But step closer, and you realise it’s not fabric at all - it’s made up of pharmaceutical drugs. Around 14,000 of them, representing the number prescribed to the average person in Britain over a lifetime.

The installation, called Cradle to Couch, explores our nation’s approach to health and how we deal with sickness.

It made me wonder…
👉 Have we become too reliant on medication to keep us “well”?
👉 Is this polypharmacy making us sicker?
👉 What would change if we focused more on prevention, nourishment and lifestyle instead?

We are in Amchara, Gozo. It’s a stunning place, sister island to Malta where we run a retreat once a year in collaboration with Amchara.

We arrived yesterday to rest and relax and get some treatments in before our clients arrive.

This morning we had a wonderful yoga session.

It’s warm and breezy and sooo lovely here 🥰

My nutrition journey began with yoga. I started yoga more than 10 years ago. After a few months I noticed how my body became more sensitive to certain foods. I used to drink 2 cups of tea daily but I started to develop a distaste for it. If I ate a packet of crisps there would be a physical feeling that I knew I could do without. My chocolate consumption decreased - I used to eat a bar a day. All this started happening naturally. Nothing was forced. The awareness of this was what changed everything for me. When I noticed this happening I was so excited that I felt that I wanted to share this with everyone. This is what led me to start studying nutrition. I am a fully qualified naturopathic nutrition therapist and I feel this incredible journey has just begun. I believe food and lifestyle changes can be used to heal physical and emotional dis-ease.
