This is now my 2nd year of operating in the fitness sector and what a 1st year it has been. Building my client base; connecting with their needs, supporting them throughout the time they choose to train with me and the after-care.
I’ve built up my knowledge and experience on multiple platforms; Personal Training in and around Ilfracombe, two retreats in North Devon, leading over 200 fitness classes at Air Extreme (trampoline Park, Barnstaple) and building a strong retention class by class. I’ve been looking after the staffs’ well-being at the Carlton Hotel (also in Ilfracombe) and networking with other fitness providers too.
Plus keeping my original plan alive - Outdoor training Capstone Hill, Ilfracombe.
I have 10 years experience with Outdoor Fitness, (Instructor and Park Manager) working with the Awesome company British Military Fitness in London.
2017 saw me take a trip from my childhood, I traveled to China, Shandong Province, near Rhizao to the Dragon Mountain Kung Fu Academy.
There I spent two weeks training in Shaolin Kung-Fu, Chinese boxing and Iron Fist, this for me was a 20 year dream and I not only re-connected with my Martial Arts passion, I also re-connected with the importance of stretching, the health and understanding of our joints, connective tissues and how our lack or range can affect us on a day to day basis. In only two weeks, I felt stronger, more subtle and I unlocked an issue in my left knee.
This experience equipped me with the confidence and focus to create my own workshops and I will be looking to continue with them this year. In Ilfracombe and Barnstaple. Dates will follow. One of them covers us from the foundations (feet) to your lower abs and the second session covers us from the abs to the top of our head. Get to know your body, update how you move and “Fall in love with looking after yourself!”
Working through a process of mobility warm-ups, assessment positions for you to gain feedback from your body and then a systematic approach from the ground up. Looking at mobility, stability, range and movement. Helping you to connect, understand and react in a positive way when your body tells you something. Don’t be restricted my your body.......
This year will take me in a few directions, community focus within Ilfracombe, becoming part of the Retained Fire Brigade. Plus helping individuals with being more active with walking and light exercises - watch out for details. I have continued to develop my own physical path with Calisthenics, my body’s rewards have been quick and my knowledge of flexibility, range and recovery has been incredibly helpful.
Everyday items can be used, day to day movements can be adapted and the multiple levels of progression are ever growing.
Due to old injuries, I was told to stay away from power, ballistic and explosive training as i wasn’t physically stable enough to do so. Now however, after China and being told “you strong, but no power” - I know i’m ready to build and grow. Also explore and show/share with others.
I am hugely passionate about the human body, the importance of listening to it and how it is our future - mind and body - investment and health.
