Thursday saw us attending Pure Dental Centre, Pure Dental Centre and Implants in Barnstaple so we could deliver our Medical Emergency Training to their team again. This year there were a few updates to cover with the new Resuscitation Council UK guidelines that were recently issued. Pleased to say all those attending seemed to enjoy the course and got involved, taking part in the practicals with enthusiasm! Thank you again everyone.

Last week we were able to deliver our Medical Emergency Training to a new Dental Practice coming to North Devon. Shortly opening in Barnstaple, The Curve Dental will offer a complete range of dental services in a relaxed and welcoming environment. We wish them all the best and thank them for giving us the opportunity to meet their staff and deliver our training.

The four links of the Resuscitation Council UK 2025 Chain of Survival. This has been updated to reflect the new addition: link 4 – Recovery and Rehabilitation. It is based on the European Council’s Resuscitation Guidelines for 2025.

Resuscitation UK Guidelines 2025. DDS First Aid Training is pleased to confirm that all our courses delivered will now cover the latest guidelines.

Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines 2025 have been developed through a continuous four-year process, informed by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) 2025 Consensus on Science with Treatment Recommendations and the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Guidelines for Resuscitation 2025.

The UK Guidelines translate international evidence into recommendations tailored for UK clinical practice.

Last week were able to return to North Tawton Dental Practice for the Dental Practitioners to receive their annual training in emergency care, with our Medical Emergency Training course. This covers the subjects to keep them up to date with both the theory, practical application and familiarisation of the equipment required for the practice to operate safely. We were also pleased to deliver training that covered the latest Resuscitation Council UK’s 2025 Guidelines that only just came out last month. We wish them well for another year.

Have been to Holsworthy Dental Centre and delivered their annual Medical Emergency Training to the team again. All were able to go over the course content and have the opportunity to practice and refresh their knowledge and meet the General Dental Council’s recommendations to cover the patient’s safety, in case of need. We were also able to deliver our Emergency First Aid at Work training to some of the team, which meets the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations for in the workplace. All the best to them all.

Monday and Tuesday saw us at Investacast Ltd up at Mullacott Industrial Estate, Ilfracombe to deliver our Emergency First Aid at Work to staff along with a First Aid at Work Requalification course to staff previously having had our training, to re-certify them to be first aiders in the workplace. Good discussion points. Lots of practical aspects covered and good participation with the group. Thank you to all for making an enjoyable course and hearing your stories!

Revisited Seaview Haven Residential Care Home, Ilfracombe last week and ran one of our First Aid for Carers courses for some of their care staff. This course has been developed specifically by us with the core subjects that are appropriate to care homes, enabling staff to look after their residents and meeting the required standards.

Last week delivered one of our Automated External Defibrillator (AED) & Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) courses for one of the Barnstaple based Solicitors offices https://www.facebook.com/Wollens/ . We covered basic life support and a background of cardiac conditions, together with the practical application of using the AED unit available. This course aims to give confidence in the event of needing this life-saving piece of kit. Good, timely CPR, coupled with defibrillation CAN and DOES save lives.

Last Wednesday and Thursday saw DDS First Aid Training down at St Ives to deliver two of our courses to OV St Ives Ltd (delicious fudges and chocolate producer!) enabling their First Aiders to update knowledge and practice skills to keep the production team safe. Lovely view from the training room looking out into the bay and coastline. We were also able to give our consultancy advice on their first aid equipment.

On Wednesday we visited Oaklands Residential Care Home in Barnstaple meeting the staff again and training them with our First Aid for Carers Course. Met some familiar faces from previous courses. The course covers emergency procedures to ensure residents are cared for in times of need. Course content is designed to give care staff confidence and an opportunity to update their knowledge, practice procedures and ask questions. All training is Face-to-Face which we feel far outweighs online training – you can’t ask questions on that! Thank you to the management for such a happy bunch on the course!

Tuesday saw us out at the Combe Martin Bowling Club to deliver our Essential First Aid course to some of the members. This training covers a range of subjects specially geared to clubs and groups that don’t need a certificated qualification in the workplace. It was an enjoyable morning with all practicing skills and learning about different medical conditions and equipment, including familiarisation in using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). The club’s green looked really well kept!
