An important behaviour support session with Nellie and Ethel yesterday 🫂

Sadly they lost their friend Alice at the start of the year and their pawrent wanted some extra help in how to support the whole family through the grieving process 🫂

Blue Cross provides an excellent service for humans and also Andy from Black Dog Pet Bereavement can help with the human side of this 🙏

My main focus was providing advice and emotional support for the canines who like us go through their own grieving process 🫂

Popped in to see little Xena today as she has just had her second TPLO operation ❤️‍🩹🦵

The TPLO stands for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy 🤯 the operation is performed to treat a rupture in the cruciate ligament of a dogs knee joint, it can effect either one or both legs and sadly Xena has had it in both her hind limbs 🫣

I see many patients who have had this operation and I have had two dogs myself who went through this journey to recovery ❤️‍🩹

Unfortunately Xena is very bruised and swollen probably more so than any dog I've seen before even my 90kg mastiff who had two plates 🫣

I have shown Xena's mum how to massage and support lymphatic drainage to help reduce swelling and improve blood flow 💆

Xena is being closely monitored by her local vets and has a great support team at home 👍💪

Pain medication, massage, bone broth, arnica and maybe a cheeky banana 🍌 will help keep her comfortable and support her recovery :)

🐎🌰 Conker 🐎🌰

Conker is a rescue cocker spaniel that was fostered through Spaniel Aid

Her foster parents couldn't bear to part with her and adopted her and she is now in a very happy home with herm mum who is a qualified Canine Behavior Technician and her dad who is a Beaver Conservationist 🦫 (true story)

Conker has like many of us lower back pain in her lumbar and some tension through her iliopsoas 🤓

She comes for regular Hydrotherapy with me and is also seen by Becky the Physiotherapist of Little Green Stables

She is closely monitored by her vets Polden Hills Veterinary Centre and James hunt of Petpainrelief - Veterinary Pain Management with Dr James Hunt

Our dogs often need a "multi modal" approach to health and pain relief and that is why collaboration is the way forward for all our beloved animals 🐎🐕🐈🐇🐹🐍
