JOB VACANCY - MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST

Crown Medical Practice is seeking a highly motivated Medical Receptionist to join our friendly primary care team, with experience in dealing with the public and who is capable of working across all aspects of practice administration.
Previous experience of working in a medical practice would be highly desirable but not essential as full training will be provided and finding the right person to fit in with the team is more important.

PRACTICE OPENING TIMES DURING THE HOLIDAY PERIOD

Wednesday 24/12 - open as usual
Thursday 25/12 to Sunday 28/12- closed
Monday 29/12 to Wednesday 31/12 - open as usual
Thursday 1/1 to Sunday 4/1 - closed

From Monday the 5th of January we will be open again for our normal hours.

BOWEL SCREENING

People living in Scotland aged 50 to 74 are sent a home bowel screening test every two years. The test can be done in the privacy of your home and returned using the pre-paid envelope provided.

We are aware that the patient services prescription ordering system is currently down. This is unfortunately outwith the practice control. We have reported this and will update you whenever this is resolved. In the mean time you can always send us an email request, pop into the practice with a reorder form or contact your local pharmacy directly. Apologies for the inconvenience.

WINTER VACCINES

If you’re offered the flu vaccine, you’ve got a reason to get it!
Flu hits hard, and for some, it hits harder. Last winter, Scotland experienced very high levels of flu, with more than 6,500 adults becoming so ill that they were admitted to hospital.

If you’re eligible for the flu vaccine you will receive a letter, email or text with appointment details or information on how to book one. You can book or rearrange an appointment online at www.nhsinform.scot/flu or by calling 0800 030 8013.

COVID-19 vaccine
In addition to the flu vaccine, some people may also be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine this year. This guidance is reviewed every year so it’s important to check what vaccines you are eligible for this year.

⚠️ Stay alert and share this information with family, friends and colleagues.

Counter Fraud Services is being alerted to a sharp rise in scam GP telephone calls.
Members of the public receive a call appearing to be from their GP asking them to press a button to update their details. Some of these messages suggest that if the person does not update their details, they will be removed from the GP practice list.

What happens?
These calls:
• Ask recipients to press a button to update personal details.
• Claim that failure to do so will result in removal from the GP practice list.
• Sometimes include a link to click.
• May display a foreign location, such as Spain, on the caller ID.

What should you do?
1. If you receive a telephone call from an unknown number asking you to update your details, hang up.
2. Do not provide any details or press a number on your handset.
3. If you receive a scam telephone call, you can report this to Police Scotland on 101.

Take Five to Stop Fraud! Scammers will do anything to get you to give out information, money or to make you act. If you receive a request that you don't expect, TAKE FIVE.

We have been advised that you can now access the practice as Crown Avenue is open

Crown Avenue has been completely blocked off at the end of our street. Apologies for this as this is completely outwith our control. We have spoken to the workmen and this should be finished in the next couple of hours. If you are able to park elsewhere that would be appreciated. If you have mobility issues please contact the practice. We will update when the road is open.
