My yoga teaching certificate was gained from the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre in 2006 and I have taught yoga as my main occupation since that time. Since leaving the Iyengar Association, my teaching has been influenced and guided by ongoing training with more senior teachers, my personal practice and my continuing studies of anatomy, breathing and pelvic health. I am passionately committed to the huge and fascinating subject which is yoga. I teach group yoga classes, workshops and private 1:1 sessions by arrangement. I have been fascinated by anatomy, breathing and movement for over 20 years and hold diplomas in Swedish and Sports & Remedial Massage. As well as teaching yoga, I also work to promote education and discussion around women's pelvic and menopausal health. Being a coach with Adore Your Pelvic Floor provides me with access to current research and advice from some of the UK's top Pelvic Health Specialist Physios. This is a lovely read. Most of us start yoga for the physical practice because, if practiced mindfully and with sensible technique, it can make us feel physically better in many ways. Then, if you continue to practice with attention over a period of time, you begin to realise yoga's other subtle but amazing effects. Yoga is so much more than the physical practice. For me, the fascinating thing is that the other benefits it brings, the awareness and improvement of your breathing, the level mindset, the improved ability to deal not only with life's physical issues but its psychological challenges as well - all of these are happening in the background while we do the physical practice. Quietly and subtly. And you don't realise this until one day you discover that in some way, maybe handling a difficult situation or dealing with a disappointment, your reaction is different. And while we can be taught the techniques and ideas of yoga, we can only discover the benefits for ourselves. So you continue the practice - hopefully until around 101! ❤️

Thanks to everyone who came to my workshop at the Treehouse building on Saturday afternoon. We explored moving deeper into standing poses, backbends and chair shoulderstand with the help of chairs and props. Thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone! ❤️
Next workshop is on Saturday 29th November 1.30-4.30pm and will include working into inversions.

I'm gearing up for starting the next Baby Yoga blocks next week and just sending some info out to the new mums. For anyone who is in their pregnancy I would thoroughly recommend pre natal yoga classes with my lovely friend Kate Longdon (Kate was a midwife so knows her babies! Pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga in Inverness I'd also recommend this book by Emma Brockwell, one of the top specialist pelvic health physio's in the UK, a really good and very useful read, lots of recovery tips and in spite of the title its a really informative and postive read! Along with another Physio Grainne Donnelly, Emma co wrote the national physio guidelines for Returning to Running postnatally. Its recommended to hold off from high impact sport until 12 weeks postnatal, there is no rush unless you're down for the Commonwealth Games 800m or the like!

I'm gearing up for starting the next Baby Yoga blocks next week and just sending some info out to the new mums. In my next older babies block, I'm changing the focus a bit from the babies (still movement for them!) and including more postnatal yoga and strengthening exercise for the mums. I've a couple of spaces left for next Tues if you're interested. For anyone currently pregnant, I would thoroughly recommend prenatal yoga classes with my lovely friend Kate Longdon (Kate was a midwife so knows her babies! Correct clip now attached, trimmed and slightly speeded up! Nice way to practice balancing in elbow balance, pincha mayurasana. Its strong on the shoulders so warm up and do some shoulder openers first. For practitioners who already do inversions. Dont do if you have shoulder issues - plug the upper arms into the shoulder sockets using rotator cuff and surrounding muscles. Eventually you come away from the chair back to balance. In the video, just before I go up I talk abou the placement of the elbows under the chair seat, and say shoulders instead of elbows 🥴.
