Quick question 👇
Is there something you’re scared of that you avoid — even though part of you knows it’s holding you back?

For me, it was public speaking. Repeating it (gradually) helped my brain learn there was actually nothing to be frightened of.

What’s the one thing your brain keeps warning you about?

We all use AI these days to understand things better — anxiety, fears, patterns, “why am I like this?” 🤖🧠
And that’s great… insight matters.

But when it comes to anxiety and phobias, understanding alone usually isn’t the full solution.

That’s where exposure comes in.
Carefully guided, CBT-based exposure helps your brain learn (not just think) that you’re safe. And yes — it’s one of the most evidence-based approaches we have for anxiety and phobias.

Now imagine doing that exposure…
✨ Safely
✨ Gradually
✨ From the comfort of your own home
✨ Using VR

CBT-assisted VR Exposure Therapy lets you practice facing fears in a controlled, supportive way — topping up insight with real experience.

✈️ Fear of flying
🕷️ Spiders
💉 Needles
😰 Social anxiety
…and many more

You stay in control. We go at your pace. Your nervous system learns that it can cope 💪

Why Reassurance Is Like Junk Food for Anxiety 🍩

Ever noticed how asking for reassurance feels AMAZING…
for about 12 minutes?

“Am I going to be okay?”
“Do you think this means something bad?”
“Promise I won’t panic?”

Relief arrives. Anxiety quiets.
And then… it comes back louder, demanding another hit.

Here’s why 👇

🧠 Your brain is a quick learner
Every time anxiety shows up and you seek reassurance, your brain learns:

“Ah. Anxiety = danger. Reassurance = safety.”

So next time anxiety appears, your brain pushes you harder to seek reassurance again.

Congratulations — you’ve accidentally trained your anxiety like a very needy puppy 🐶

What reassurance actually teaches anxiety
• “I can’t cope on my own”
• “Uncertainty is dangerous”
• “I need someone/something external to feel safe”

Short-term calm.
Long-term anxiety upgrade.
⬇️

So what helps instead? (Without going cold turkey)

✅ Delay, don’t deny
Try: “I’ll wait 10 minutes before asking.”
Anxiety often peaks and falls on its own.

✅ Respond with uncertainty
Instead of reassurance, try:
• “Maybe, maybe not.”
• “I can handle not knowing right now.”

Your brain hates this at first. That’s okay — it’s learning.

✅ Name the pattern
“Ah. This is reassurance-seeking anxiety, not an actual emergency.”

Labeling reduces the threat signal.

✅ Self-reassurance with a twist
Not: “Everything will be fine.”
But: “I can cope even if this is uncomfortable.”

That builds confidence, not dependence.

⬇️

✨ The goal isn’t to feel calm immediately
It’s to teach your brain you’re safe without the ritual.

Anxiety shrinks when it stops getting rewarded.

🧠 Can virtual reality help with anxiety? Turns out, yes.

Research shows that virtual reality (VR) therapy works just as well as real-life exposure for many fears — like heights, flying, spiders, and crowded places.

For social anxiety, a well-known 2017 study found that people using VR improved as much as — and sometimes more than — those practising in real life, with benefits that lasted after therapy ended.

VR allows people to face difficult social situations in a safe, controlled way, which can make getting started feel far less overwhelming.

Technology isn’t replacing therapy — but it’s definitely changing how we do it.

BackgroundPeople with social anxiety disorder (SAD) fear social interactions and may be reluctant to seek treatments involving exposure to social situations. Social exposure conducted in virtual reality (VR), embedded in individual cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), could be an answer...

🤔 What would anxiety stop you from doing if it had the chance?

Speaking up in meetings?
Flying to see family?
Going to social events?

CBT exposure therapy helps reduce avoidance and increase confidence by learning through experience — not reassurance.

Remote or face-to-face support is available.
