The Department of Health and Social Care missed the deadline to submit evidence for the NHS pay review body, which is responsible for recommending the pay levels of NHS nurses across the country.

Former health minister Steve Brine said that he was 'astonished' to hear that the department had missed the deadline by over 20 days and still has not submitted evidence.

This has raised concerns that the pay body will not be able to prepare a recommendation in time for nurses to receive their pay by April 1st.

The Department of Health missed the deadline for submitting evidence set by the independent NHS pay review body for this year's pay award.
