This Pancake Day, why not choose toppings that are good for your eyes too?
Fruits like blueberries and strawberries are rich in antioxidants that support eye health. Nuts and seeds add vitamin E, and a little natural yogurt provides zinc and protein to help maintain healthy vision. A tasty way to enjoy Pancake Day while giving your eyes something to thank you for!

This week, new research commissioned by Glaucoma UK revealed the growing glaucoma crisis in the UK. More than 1.1 million people over 40 are currently living with the disease, which is nearly 50% higher than previous estimates.
With an ageing population and higher risk groups increasing in number, cases are projected to rise to 1.6 million by 2060, far outpacing population growth. The researchers conclude that the expansion of eye health services and encouraging regular eye tests for early diagnosis will be critical in reducing glaucoma-related sight loss.

We're a few weeks into the new year - a good time to check in on your eye health.
If you've noticed headaches, tired eyes, or changes in vision, an eye exam can help identify what's going on and keep your prescription up to date.

We would love to track down the old eye sign that used to hand outside the practice when we were in the Buttermarket in the 1960s and put it up outside our Northgate Street premises. Does anybody know what happened to it? Could it be in a cellar below one of those shops now? If you’ve seen our old 👁️ please get in touch….🤞🏼

The end of the year is a great time to check in on your eye health.
Even if your vision feels fine, an eye exam can detect issues early - from changes in prescription to eye health conditions like glaucoma or cataracts.
Book your eye test before the year ends and start the new year with clear, healthy vision

Optometrists recommend that most people should get their eyes tested every two years. For some people, it is important to have an eye test more frequently. Here are a few groups that might be recommended to come back sooner:

• children wearing glasses

• people aged 40 or over with a family history of glaucoma

• people aged 70 or over

• people with diabetes

Our town will only thrive and survive if we all play our part in supporting local businesses and stop lining the pockets of millionaires on the other side of the world!
