Do we need to wash, rinse and repeat when washing our hair?
Washing our hair once or twice depends on the hair type and length between washes. For example, someone with fine hair who washes every day is likely to find one wash is sufficient at cleansing the hair and scalp leaving it feeling fresh and clean. Someone with thick, dense hair who washes every two to three days may find the hair and scalp requires two washes to provide a sufficient cleanse. Having an active lifestyle or career may also influence this.
The consultation process is very thorough and may take up to an hour. During the consultation, all aspects of your scalp/hair problem will be discussed at length to determine the correct diagnosis of your condition. The Trichologist will go through your full medial history, and discuss a range of aspects of your lifestyle. This can include: your diet, family history, any stress you may be under and any medications you may be on. The Trichologist will then conduct a thorough examination of your hair and scalp, which may include the use of a scalp microscope or magnifying glass, where they will look at the hair under a microscope to see whether it is completing the growth cycle or has a shaft disorder.
The Trichologist will explain the nature of your disorder, give specific advice, answer your questions, and if necessary suggest a treatment regime. Your Trichologist will be able to write to your GP requesting certain blood tests or sometimes to a specific medical specialist for further investigation if required.
