GILMOUR PIPER

GILMOUR PIPER Comprehensive healthcare under one roof, delivered for over 30 years.

Established for over 30 years, initially as an Osteopathic Practice and developing and growing into one of the largest Multidisciplinary Practices of its kind in the country, we have the experience and reputation to deliver high quality healthcare at an affordable fee. We are proud to have supported and provide consultancy to Olympic athletes, Premiership Footballers, and clients such as Ipswich Town Football Club, Colchester United Football Club, Suffolk County Cricket Association and The Wolsey Theatre. We believe that no one discipline has the answer to every problem presenting in practice, and although Gilmour Piper is run as a chambers of independant self-employed doctors and therapists, we try where possible to communicate effectively together to find the best treatment for you and return you to full fitness as soon as we can. To this end we often have multidisciplinary meetings to discuss complex cases. These meetings are regularly attended by our Spinal Surgeons Mr David Sharp and Mr Robert Lovell, our musculoskeletal physician Dr Simon Harley, Osteopaths Mark Piper, James Zarro and Luke Jackman and Physiotherapists Marc Rapkin, Mark Newman and Jane Rapkin.

This month we are celebrating a truly special milestone at Gilmour Piper ๐Ÿ’™

The amazing Lauren Brennan has marked an incredible 20 years with us!

Lauren began her journey with us as a receptionist, later stepping into a reception team lead role, and for the past five years has been a dedicated medical secretary supporting our spinal surgeon Mr Lovell, lower limb surgeon Mr Myers, and Dr Simon Rudland.

For two decades, Lauren has been a calm, professional and consistent presence at Gilmour Piper. Her hardworking and steady approach brings reassurance to patients and colleagues alike, and she plays such an important role in keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. We are incredibly lucky to have someone so dedicated and valued as part of our team.

Thank you, Lauren, for 20 years of commitment, kindness and loyalty. We are so grateful for everything you do. Hereโ€™s to you and this fantastic milestone ๐Ÿ’

๐Ÿ‘‚ This week is Tinnitus Week ๐Ÿ‘‚

Tinnitus is a common condition often described as hearing ringing, buzzing, humming, or whistling sounds that donโ€™t come from an external source. For some people itโ€™s a mild background noise, but for others it can have a real impact on sleep, concentration, mood, and overall wellbeing.

The good news? Tinnitus can often be helped and managed, especially when itโ€™s approached from more than one angle. And we have practitioners here at Gilmour Piper that can help.

โœš Addressing underlying hearing loss โ€“ tinnitus is frequently linked to hearing changes, and treating hearing loss can significantly reduce symptoms
โœ”๏ธ Karen Finch, Audiologist, All About Hearing

โœš Reducing stress & anxiety โ€“ stress can amplify tinnitus, creating a frustrating cycle
โœ”๏ธ Natasha Goodchild, CBT Therapist

โœš Improving overall health โ€“ diet, hydration and lifestyle can all play a role in how tinnitus is experienced
โœ”๏ธ Rose Paul, Nutritionist, Rose Paul Nutrition

For more information on the different therapists under our roof, please visit www.gilmourpiper.co.uk or for more information on Tinnitus, please visit www.tinnitus.org.uk

A little note about appointment times...

At Gilmour Piper, we always aim to run on schedule. However, due to the nature of our work and the individual care each patient deserves, appointments may occasionally run a little over time.

We kindly ask for your patience and understanding - after all, there may be a day when youโ€™re the one who needs that extra time and support.

Thank you for bearing with us and for helping us provide the highest standard of care to everyone.

How is your January going so far? ๐Ÿ‘€

We are a few weeks into the new year now, and we are curiousโ€ฆ how are those New Yearโ€™s resolutions holding up?

Whether itโ€™s Dry January, Veganuary, getting fitter, prioritising your health, or simply being a bit kinder to yourself โ€“ you are doing better than you think ๐Ÿ’™

If youโ€™ve stuck with it so far, well done. If itโ€™s slipped a littleโ€ฆ youโ€™re definitely not alone (and itโ€™s never too late to reset).

Tell us in the comments:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Still going strong
๐Ÿ‘‰ Struggling but trying
๐Ÿ‘‰ Already moved on

Hereโ€™s to progress over perfection!

A quick message from our partners - Mark Newman & Paul Berry...

"As we settle into the new year, weโ€™d like to take a moment to thank all our patients for their continued trust and support.

As Partners of Gilmour Piper, weโ€™re incredibly proud of what the practice has become, and, just as importantly, of the supportive community that has grown around it.

Our focus remains the same: providing high-quality, patient-centred care in a welcoming and professional environment.

Whether you visit us regularly or are new to the practice, we hope you feel connected to the people and services under our roof, and confident in the care you receive.

Thank you for trusting us with your health. We look forward to supporting you throughout 2026 and beyond."

Meet Charlie Martin โ€“ Paediatrics Physiotherapist at Gilmour Piper

Supporting children and young people through injury, pain and movement difficulties requires a specialist approach, and thatโ€™s exactly where Charlie Martin, our Paediatrics Physiotherapist, comes in.

Charlie works exclusively with children and young people under 16 who are experiencing musculoskeletal issues. This includes everything from:

โ€ข Sports injuries
โ€ข General aches, pains, and growing-related discomfort
โ€ข More specific or persistent pain
โ€ข Concerns about walking patterns or the way a child moves
โ€ข Activity-related strains or overuse injuries

Every child is different, and so are the challenges they face. Charlie offers specialist assessment, clear guidance, and tailored rehabilitation to help young people move well, feel confident, and get back to the activities they love.

While many families may not immediately associate Gilmour Piper with childrenโ€™s physiotherapy, Charlie is passionate about changing that. She regularly sees young patients who have previously sought private care elsewhere with limited success and knows how valuable the right expertise can be.

If you're worried about an injury, pain, or anything unusual in how your child moves, Charlie is here to help with a warm, knowledgeable, and reassuring approach.
