GILMOUR PIPER

GILMOUR PIPER Comprehensive healthcare under one roof, delivered for over 30 years.

Established for over 30 years, initially as an Osteopathic Practice and developing and growing into one of the largest Multidisciplinary Practices of its kind in the country, we have the experience and reputation to deliver high quality healthcare at an affordable fee. We are proud to have supported and provide consultancy to Olympic athletes, Premiership Footballers, and clients such as Ipswich Town Football Club, Colchester United Football Club, Suffolk County Cricket Association and The Wolsey Theatre. We believe that no one discipline has the answer to every problem presenting in practice, and although Gilmour Piper is run as a chambers of independant self-employed doctors and therapists, we try where possible to communicate effectively together to find the best treatment for you and return you to full fitness as soon as we can. To this end we often have multidisciplinary meetings to discuss complex cases. These meetings are regularly attended by our Spinal Surgeons Mr David Sharp and Mr Robert Lovell, our musculoskeletal physician Dr Simon Harley, Osteopaths Mark Piper, James Zarro and Luke Jackman and Physiotherapists Marc Rapkin, Mark Newman and Jane Rapkin.

👂 This week is Tinnitus Week 👂

Tinnitus is a common condition often described as hearing ringing, buzzing, humming, or whistling sounds that don’t come from an external source. For some people it’s a mild background noise, but for others it can have a real impact on sleep, concentration, mood, and overall wellbeing.

The good news? Tinnitus can often be helped and managed, especially when it’s approached from more than one angle. And we have practitioners here at Gilmour Piper that can help.

✚ Addressing underlying hearing loss – tinnitus is frequently linked to hearing changes, and treating hearing loss can significantly reduce symptoms
✔️ Karen Finch, Audiologist, All About Hearing

✚ Reducing stress & anxiety – stress can amplify tinnitus, creating a frustrating cycle
✔️ Natasha Goodchild, CBT Therapist

✚ Improving overall health – diet, hydration and lifestyle can all play a role in how tinnitus is experienced
✔️ Rose Paul, Nutritionist, Rose Paul Nutrition

For more information on the different therapists under our roof, please visit www.gilmourpiper.co.uk or for more information on Tinnitus, please visit www.tinnitus.org.uk

A little note about appointment times...

At Gilmour Piper, we always aim to run on schedule. However, due to the nature of our work and the individual care each patient deserves, appointments may occasionally run a little over time.

We kindly ask for your patience and understanding - after all, there may be a day when you’re the one who needs that extra time and support.

Thank you for bearing with us and for helping us provide the highest standard of care to everyone.

How is your January going so far? 👀

We are a few weeks into the new year now, and we are curious… how are those New Year’s resolutions holding up?

Whether it’s Dry January, Veganuary, getting fitter, prioritising your health, or simply being a bit kinder to yourself – you are doing better than you think 💙

If you’ve stuck with it so far, well done. If it’s slipped a little… you’re definitely not alone (and it’s never too late to reset).

Tell us in the comments:
👉 Still going strong
👉 Struggling but trying
👉 Already moved on

Here’s to progress over perfection!

A quick message from our partners - Mark Newman & Paul Berry...

"As we settle into the new year, we’d like to take a moment to thank all our patients for their continued trust and support.

As Partners of Gilmour Piper, we’re incredibly proud of what the practice has become, and, just as importantly, of the supportive community that has grown around it.

Our focus remains the same: providing high-quality, patient-centred care in a welcoming and professional environment.

Whether you visit us regularly or are new to the practice, we hope you feel connected to the people and services under our roof, and confident in the care you receive.

Thank you for trusting us with your health. We look forward to supporting you throughout 2026 and beyond."

Meet Charlie Martin – Paediatrics Physiotherapist at Gilmour Piper

Supporting children and young people through injury, pain and movement difficulties requires a specialist approach, and that’s exactly where Charlie Martin, our Paediatrics Physiotherapist, comes in.

Charlie works exclusively with children and young people under 16 who are experiencing musculoskeletal issues. This includes everything from:

• Sports injuries
• General aches, pains, and growing-related discomfort
• More specific or persistent pain
• Concerns about walking patterns or the way a child moves
• Activity-related strains or overuse injuries

Every child is different, and so are the challenges they face. Charlie offers specialist assessment, clear guidance, and tailored rehabilitation to help young people move well, feel confident, and get back to the activities they love.

While many families may not immediately associate Gilmour Piper with children’s physiotherapy, Charlie is passionate about changing that. She regularly sees young patients who have previously sought private care elsewhere with limited success and knows how valuable the right expertise can be.

If you're worried about an injury, pain, or anything unusual in how your child moves, Charlie is here to help with a warm, knowledgeable, and reassuring approach.

This week we celebrated a very special milestone at Gilmour Piper. 💛

After 20 incredible years as our Finance Controller, the wonderful Terry Taylor is retiring (third in on the left).

The partners, along with key members of the team, took Terry out for a lovely lunch to thank her for her hard work, dedication, and the calm competence she has brought to the practice for two decades. Great food, great company, and plenty of reminiscing about the many good times shared at Gilmour Piper.

We were also joined by Michael Mann, who himself spent 20 years with us as a Pilates Instructor. Michael kindly created a beautiful flower arrangement for Terry — a thoughtful touch for a very special day. 💐

Terry, it has been a privilege to work alongside someone so honest, hardworking, and endlessly reliable. We wish you a very happy retirement — filled with peaceful holidays, no work worries, and lots of precious time with friends and your grandchildren.

Enjoy every moment. You deserve it.

Your wellbeing begins the moment you arrive, and we’re here to make every visit feel that little bit easier.
