Sometimes patients bring us cards and presents because they are pleased with their new smiles and that is really satisfying.
Today a patient brought me a bottle of wine because I asked her to see her GP after I discovered a nodule on her thyroid while palpating her neck checking for raised lymph nodes. The nodule turned out to be malignant! 6 months later and she had surgery and given a good prognosis due to early detection and treatment.
This just shows why regular dental exams with thorough checks of not only the teeth and gums but also intra and extra oral soft tissues are so important. It can literally save a life. After dentist and patient wiped their eyes we managed to complete her ‘routine dental exam’.
A truly humbling experience

How I have to spend my Saturday when Louwna returns from her week of CCF camping to tell me this morning her ortho retainer broke!
Return trip to Ipswich to fetch the scanner, 3D printer, Curing box and vacuum forming machine.
It is done and a perfect fit🥳, with 20min before we have to leave for Heathrow to drop her off for her next adventure.
40 days on a school sports exchange with Herschel Girls school in Cape Town.

At least her teeth won’t move😅

Our own request to NHS Business Services Authority for an increase in Units of Dental Activity (UDA’s), so that we can see more children on the NHS from April have so far not resulted in a reply. 🤞🤞
Dr Van Niekerk joining us in April will result in two more access days a week😃

Fantastic news!
Dr Gerrit van Niekerk will be joining the team at The Tuddenham Road Dental Surgery from April 2023🥳
Gerrit is returning to Suffolk after a hiatus of 15yrs!
He practiced at Risbygate Dental Surgery in Bury St Edmunds with Dr Hendriks before relocating to his home town of Ceres in South Africa. For the past 18months he has been practicing in Manchester but the longing for the wonderful people of Suffolk became too much.
He will be doing Wednesdays and Fridays with us.
Please like and share widely to reach the many Suffolk patients that will be delighted to hear that their favourite dentist is going to be back in the area.
