Ladies a quick but important note.💌

Our invitations for breast screening stop after the age of 71.
However you are still absolutely entitled to have screening- you just need to request it yourself by contacting your local breast screening office.

So if you or someone you know is 71 or over, please don't wait for an invitation that wont come. 💖

In the UK NHS Breast Screening Programme, a “previous non-attendance” (PNA) letter is typically sent to encourage women who missed their last screening appointment to attend the next one.

Key points about this letter:

Purpose: To remind and reassure the person that screening is still available and important, even if they didn’t attend before.

Acknowledgement that the person did not attend their last appointment.

Information about why breast screening matters.

Contact details for queries or accessibility needs.

There are many reasons why women may have missed their last breast screening.

The letter is meant as supportive, and non-judgemental, emphasising the benefits of early detection.😄

It is advised not to contact the routine breast screening centre if you have symptoms. Instead, you should visit your GP straight away. If you notice any signs or symptoms of breast cancer, even if you have recently had a clear breast screening, do not wait for an invite. Your GP can refer you to a breast clinic for further tests. Routine breast screening is not intended to replace the importance of regular self-examinations and breast awareness.
