Pudsey Bear Smiles at Steeton Court! 🐻💛

The young theme started yesterday, and we’ve been full of smiles and energy leading up to Children in Need!

Yesterday we had a lovely, energetic morning on Cavendish as Audrey's Childminding Group joined us once again for 'Moov with Oona'! Our residents absolutely adore having the children join in; it truly makes the class super joyful. ❣ Later, we had a trivial afternoon in our Devonshire lounge, where our quick-thinking quizzers were tested on science, history, and geography!

Today has been all about sweet treats and big smiles! Our chefs baked fresh buns, and we got creative decorating them with Pudsey-inspired designs. Our trolley was out handing out chocolates, and our handyman confirmed the buns were absolutely delicious! A huge thank you to the very kind Michelle, who personally bought chocolates for both staff and residents!

We've had such a wonderful time celebrating and supporting a fantastic cause - we can't wait to tune in live this evening!

☕🎨 Treats, Trips, and Pampering at Steeton Court! ✨

On Tuesday, after our wreath laying, we enjoyed a cosy trip to Morrisons Cafe for refillable hot drinks. ☕ Conversation flowed, covering everything from playing guitar in bands to how coffee used to cost just 2p!

Yesterday was all about self-care! Our staff enjoyed Well-Being Wednesday with delicious hot chocolates and toppings. 😋 Simultaneously, our residents enjoyed a pamper afternoon, with Sharon working her magic in the salon, offering manicures and fresh styles! ✨

We also got creative on Harewood with Neon Rock Painting! Residents loved mixing and pouring bright neon paints to create unique, marbled masterpieces. 🌈

A brilliant time for both residents and staff!

🥳 Happy 90th Birthday! 🎂

We're sending the biggest birthday wishes to one of our wonderful residents, who celebrated their fantastic 90th birthday on Tuesday!

Birthdays are always incredibly special here at Steeton Court Nursing Home. We are so pleased to be able to help our residents celebrate these important milestones and to make their day as wonderful and memorable as possible.

It was a joy to mark this incredible occasion with cake, presents, and lots of laughter. We hope you had a truly wonderful day!

🌹 Remembrance at Steeton Court: We Will Remember Them 🌹

This week has been dedicated to honour and reflection, remembering the courage and sacrifice of our servicemen and women.

We began by crafting lapel poppies with residents, adding them to our beautiful giant ring of poppies. We were also treated to a wonderful Remembrance special concert by Olivia Schofield, who performed Glenn Miller, Les Misérables, and many other favourites!

At 11 am on Tuesday, Steeton Court fell silent for two minutes in honour of Armistice Day. One of our veterans was deep in thought, remembering soldiers past and present—their legacy will never be forgotten.

Later that day, we joined our sister home, Craven, for quiet reflection and a parade viewing. In the afternoon, our former RAF serviceman and in-house Armed Forces Champion laid a poppy wreath at our local memorial, taking a quiet moment to salute all who have served.

🚌 Safety First! From Faulty Headlight to Friday Night Fiesta at Steeton Court! ✨

Friday was set to be a spectacular night out for our residents—we were heading to the fireworks display at Addingham Cricket Club!

However, a faulty headlight on our minibus meant that safety had to come first, and sadly, the trip had to be cancelled.

But at Steeton Court, we don't let a minor setback dim our spirits! The team quickly rallied to turn disappointment into a spontaneous celebration right here at home. We launched an impromptu quiz, complete with a few celebratory glasses of Prosecco.

And of course, we couldn't skip the lights! The evening culminated with a brilliant display of sparklers to light up the night. It just goes to show that the best parties are often the unplanned ones, especially when you have wonderful company! 🎇

Caitlin, 11, and Frank, 91, may seem unlikely friends, but after being paired up through an "adopt a grand-friend" scheme, the duo have bonded over a love of singing.

☀️ Steeton Court's Wonderful Last Few Days! ☀️

Tuesday was an outing success! We enjoyed a scenic drive followed by delicious, fresh milkshakes from Rectory Farm Milk Shack. Our trip to The Trawlerman for our favourite fish and chips was a big hit, made extra special by a chance meeting with our colleague, Audrey, and a lovely reunion arranged for one of our residents with her daughter and best friend. 🚌🍟

Wednesday brought celebrations and creativity! We marked a resident’s birthday with pink roses (her favourite!) and admired some amazing crochet art. Our Harewood group created vibrant firework designs using neon paint and Posca pens. Later, we had a pampering session at the salon and enjoyed a fabulous birthday cake. Remembrance decorations have also started going up around the home.

Yesterday was full of laughter! Our morning was energetic with a multigenerational dance class alongside Oona and Audrey’s childminding group. In the afternoon, we swapped poppy-making for a fun, themed cheese and biscuits quiz, which everyone loved! We finished by reminiscing over vintage photos of local streets and past holidays. 💃🧀

A highlight of the interview was the moment Catelyn and Frank (91) shared the story of them singing 'Yesterday' together—a beautiful connection that brought back treasured memories of Frank's time in a male voice choir.
