I am a registered somatic therapist with the international accreditation body ISMETA and a dance artist of many years. I offer 1-1 somatic therapy: A body-focused and creative approach. Sessions in-person and online from my studio near Kendal, Cumbria for both adults and children.

Hello!

My name is Gemma Higginbotham (MA, RSME/T).

I am a registered somatic movement educator and therapist with ISMETA ( international somatic movement education and therapy training and accreditation organisation https://ismeta.org/about-ismeta) and a dance artist of many years. I am based near Kendal, Cumbria, UK.
I work 1-1 in-person + online where appropriate.
I also facilitate workshops exploring embodied imagination.

My training is in contemporary dance, improvisational practices and in somatic movement education and therapy at Masters level.
After many years living overseas and working extensively as a dance artist internationally; my interest in dance and the poetics of the body continued towards a deeper somatic approach to bodily engagement and creativity. I have a specific interest in embodied imagination and the essential role of art and imagination in shaping our human experience.
