Today we were looking at the work of Wassily Kandinsky, one of the chief architects of abstract painting. We watched a few videos of his life and work and then we tried a few of his moves on watercolour paper and our trusty sketchbooks.
We tried something new today though, since Kandinsky was heavily influenced by music, and it's connection with emotions, we played vinyl records while we worked, conscious of whether we felt influenced by the sounds we heard, ranging from ambient music to discordant, edgy music with different tempos. It's an experiment we will come back to later.
