In the UK, prescription-only medicines (POMs) such as anti-wrinkle injections must be prescribed following a face-to-face consultation with a qualified prescriber, in line with current prescribing guidelines. Remote or illegal prescribing, or none at all, puts patients at serious risk.

Worryingly, an investigation reported by The Telegraph found that 3 out of 5 practitioners were willing to break the law to supply or administer prescription treatments without following the correct process.
