🚨✨ THE COUNTDOWN IS ON… ✨🚨

ASA – Animal Star Awards… we are READY for you! 🏆🐴

To be named a FINALIST is absolutely HUGE for TEAL CIC. We are beyond proud to be attending alongside so many incredible organisations and individuals who champion animals and the difference they make in people’s lives.

This month,..For one evening only…
We’ll be swapping:
🐴 Mud for makeup
🌾 Hay for hairspray
👢 Yard boots for heels
🧥 Hoodies for dresses

Yes… we will be transforming from “yard chic” to full Cinderella mode for the night ✨👗

Behind the scenes it’s still mucking out, teaching, supporting, learning and loving our herd as always… but this moment means so much. It represents the dedication of our team, the resilience of our learners, and the magic our horses create every single day.

We cannot wait to celebrate with all the other wonderful finalists 💜

Wish us luck… and pray we remember how to walk in heels after living in wellies! 👢➡️👠

💛✨ SELF CARE SUNDAY ✨💛

Ben & Jigsaw showing us how it’s done…

Mutual grooming isn’t just cute – it’s connection.
It’s trust.
It’s regulation.
It’s saying, “I’ve got you.”

Horses don’t groom just anyone. They groom the ones they feel safe with. The ones they’ve built a bond with. The ones who matter.

Ben and Jigsaw have years behind them – through injuries, good days, hard days, muddy winters and golden summers. And here they are, still choosing each other. Still standing close. Still taking care of one another.

Self-care isn’t always bubble baths and quiet time.
Sometimes it’s:

🤍 Standing beside someone who makes you feel safe
🤍 Giving as much as you receive
🤍 Taking a moment to pause and connect
🤍 Letting someone support you

In a herd, relationships regulate the nervous system. In humans… it’s exactly the same.

Who is your “mutual groom” person?
And are you being that for someone else too?

🚨 SMOKEY’S SIGNED UP FOR AEROBICS 🚨

Leg warmers on.
Hair braided.
Ready to WORK IT. 💪✨

Smokey is clearly preparing for his next fitness class… or at least that’s what it looks like 🤣

In reality, these fabulous “feather socks” are worn when Smokey sees our brilliant farrier Rob. They help keep his feathers clean and dry while he’s being shod – because underneath all that glam is some very important hoof care going on 👏🐴

Practical… but make it fashion.

We’re not saying he’s starting an 80s workout trend… but we’re also not saying he isn’t.

✂️🐴 Accredited Equine Groom Course – Clipping Skills in Action! 🐴✂️

Our equine students have been practising one of the key seasonal skills in horse management… clipping.

Clipping isn’t just about appearance – it’s about horse welfare, health and management.

As we move through the colder months, many horses grow thick winter coats. If they’re in work, this can cause:
• Overheating
• Excessive sweating
• Longer drying times
• Increased risk of chills
• Skin issues if sweat sits on the coat

Clipping helps horses regulate their temperature more effectively when working – but it must always be balanced with correct rugging and management.

Today’s session focused on:

🔹 Safe handling of clippers
🔹 Reading the horse’s body language
🔹 Desensitisation and confidence building
🔹 Correct clip lines and technique
🔹 Hygiene and equipment care
🔹 Risk assessment and safe positioning

Safety is EVERYTHING around clipping. Clippers are noisy, vibrate and can make even steady horses feel unsure. Students learn:
• Never stand directly behind
• Always maintain safe body positioning
• Keep cables organised and out of walkways
• Stay calm and aware
• Work as a team

It’s about developing not just technical skills, but confidence, feel and professionalism.

Learning changes with the seasons – and this is what real equine education looks like. Practical. Purposeful. Welfare-led.

We are incredibly proud of how our learners continue to grow in skill and confidence.

😂💤 Top & Tailing – Yard Edition 💤😂

Do you remember staying at your friend’s house as kids and having to “top and tail” in the bed?

Well… apparently that doesn’t stop when you’re a horse either 🤣

Here’s Ben and Smokey last night, fully committed to the sleepover vibes – one at the headboard, one at the footboard, absolutely unbothered and perfectly comfortable!

5 years of friendship and now they’re basically running their own equine B&B 🐴💛

Horses feel safest when they can truly switch off and lie flat out like this – especially alongside a trusted herd mate. Friendship goals, if you ask us.

Sweet dreams, boys 😴✨

LESSONS WE'D BE TAUGHT IF DOGS WERE TEACHERS:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

Today our Accredited Equine Groom Course students headed out on a real-life learning trip to our local horse feed shop 🐴🛒

On the list:
✔️ Horse supplements
✔️ New headcollars
✔️ A new shavings fork
✔️ And plenty of confidence building along the way

Trips like this are about so much more than shopping.

They are about life skills.

🔹 Planning what we need
🔹 Budget awareness
🔹 Speaking to shop staff confidently
🔹 Asking questions about products
🔹 Ordering feed correctly
🔹 Choosing the right equipment for safety and welfare
🔹 Understanding safe behaviour in public spaces

For some of our young people, walking into a shop and starting a conversation can feel huge. Today they did just that – with professionalism and maturity.

This is what accredited equine education looks like in real life.
Not just learning about horses… but developing independence, communication skills and confidence for the future.

We’re incredibly proud of them 💛

“My horse has saved me in ways no one could ever imagine.”

And for so many of our young people at TEAL CIC… this isn’t just a quote. It’s their lived experience.

Horses don’t judge.
They don’t read reports.
They don’t look at labels.
They don’t see diagnoses.

They see energy.
They feel emotion.
They respond to authenticity.

We have watched anxious shoulders drop beside a steady heartbeat.
We have seen tears fall into manes that quietly absorb them.
We have witnessed confidence grow stride by stride.

Sometimes healing doesn’t look like therapy rooms and worksheets.
Sometimes it looks like muddy boots, quiet moments in a stable, and a horse standing beside you when words feel too hard.

Our horses don’t “fix” people.
But they create space.
And in that space… growth happens. 💫

At TEAL, we see it every single week — connection, resilience, belonging.

Because sometimes, the ones with four legs teach us the most about being human. 🤍
