The Coddiwomple Lady

The Coddiwomple Lady Hi, I'm Wendy, here you'll find lighthearted midlife musings of a child free, adult orphaned oneling woman travelling purposefully towards a vague destination!

CODDIWOMPLE (v): An old English slang verb meaning "to travel in a Purposeful manner towards a vague destination." Wendy Jennings, also known as The Coddiwomple Lady, lives in the heart of Kent with her other half & soul-mate, Tim. She is a writer, Life Coach and artist who is passionate about helping others find their purpose in life and empowering them to live a joyous life. Her book "From Cancer To Coddiwomple - A Story of Love, Loss and Daring to Dream" tells her story of living with her parents' illnesses and how she re-built her life after losing them both, within weeks of each other. Travel with her as she embarks on the trip of a lifetime to Bali and Australia where she sought to discover her new Life After Loss. Here she also uncovered a deep connection with Reiki and has since qualified as a Reiki Practitioner. Wendy's mission in life is to help inspire others that they too can enjoy Life After Loss. Proceeds from her book help her support St Barnabas House hospice in Sussex and her story also raises awareness of the signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer as they can so easily be missed in the early stages. As well as life coaching support, Wendy is also available to write guest blogs/articles, media interviews and speaking. She has appeared on BBC Radio as well as regional magazines & newspapers. And we’re ready for this month’s musings…

“Coddiwompling Through Grief

One huge lesson I’ve learned on my grief journey is that grief doesn’t go away. She becomes part of us, tucked away in our souls and she occasionally likes to be acknowledged. Therefore it’s important to let her in sometimes to sit with us for a while. It’s okay to cry a few releasing and healing tears.”

When your Bestie is convinced she can't buy thoughtful presents but ends up getting it oh so right! (I think she even tapped into my inner child's age!)

Thank you I love them!

Last week, I celebrated 57 trips around the sun. I spent it in my Happy Place with my Special Person beginning with a beautiful sunrise. But it wasn't just a trip away; it was another piece of my journey with grief and Life After Loss. My parent's ashes are sprinkled under two trees in a spot we all loved. They've rested there for 10 years now, and I visit every couple of years. It's where I feel closest to them, and it's always bitter sweet. You don't “get over” grief. She sits with you, becomes part of you, and sometimes she just likes to be heard and acknowledged. Let her in for a moment, cry some healing tears, all is well.

Happiness is:
when our art can help us support great causes. I sent £75 to St Michael's Hospice (Hastings and Rother) today from funds raised by the lovely visitors to Pashley Manor Gardens during the summer months. I am so grateful for everyone who purchased one.

Hospices REALLY need our support during these challenging economic times. Their staff are nothing less than angels who work tirelessly to care and comfort not just their patients but also their relatives and friends. From my own experiences I know this to be true.

Better late than never! I don’t think I’ve ever been so late in the month with my coddiwompling exploits, but here we go!

There’s the first part of our trip to Wales, an art commission and a new creation. It’s been a busy time!

Something unexpected and wonderful happened last week: I received a Sunshine Blogger award on Substack. I was gobsmacked! It’s important that we all support each other, there’s room for all of us.

Evidently this has been going since 2016 and is a way for bloggers to share and uplift other bloggers. I’ve never met the lady who nominated me, but we’ve connected through our writing, which is wonderful.

If you’re a creative who sometimes feels like your work is floating around anonymously in the ether, please don’t give up. You never know where your words will land or who will resonate with your work…it happens when it’s ready. Keep following your sunshine 🌻🌻

If you would like to join me, I’d love to welcome you to my little Coddiwomple Community 😊

About Wendy Jennings - The Coddiwomple Lady

CODDIWOMPLE (v.): English slang. To travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination.

Have you ever had ‘one of those days? A day where one call changes the rest of your life? Wendy had one of those calls, from her father, on 19th December 2011...

Wendy Jennings, aka The Coddiwomple Lady, is the author of ‘From Cancer To Coddiwomple - A Story of Love, Loss and Daring to Dream”. This book follows her journey through her parents’ illnesses and how she re-built her life after losing them both, within weeks of each other, in 2012.

Travel with her as she embarks on the trip of a lifetime to Bali and Australia in 2015, she knew exactly where she was going, why she was going there and what she wanted to achieve by visiting these two inspiring and beautiful places. Little did she know that it would lead her to a totally different 'destination’ - writing a book...this book!
