Smiling depression isn’t an official term. However. it is possible to be depressed and hide it behind a smile, or a loud, bubbly personality.
In short, individuals put on a happy face to the outside world. Pushing away those who try to help and support them. They hide behind their happy facade of a loud, strong, bubbly personality but underneath lays a vulnerable, incredibly lonely, depressed individual, experiencing deep inner turmoil and suffering.
So how can you break this cycle? A starting point is knowing that this condition actually exists and that it’s serious. For some, this insight may be enough to turn things around, because it puts them on a path to seeking help and breaking free from the shackles of depression that have been holding them back.
