Incredible achievement by the Sword Contracts Ltd team on the M2 Junction 5 GRAHAM Group project.

Over the last two days the team have placed 18 pre-cast beams which form part of the south bridge on the Maidstone side of the flyover, at the Stockbury Roundabout, between Maidstone and Sittingbourne.

A lot of people would have seen the construction of the retaining walls of the main structure so this was the next thing in line with the program.

Next up, 450m of capping beam to the top of the RECO wall and commencement of the North Bridge.

SAFETY STAND DOWN

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of providing a Safety Talk about Plant-People Interface for to all of the subcontractors on the M2 Junction 5 project, during a

Safety Stand Downs are so important, they improve safety culture, provide team building and promote awareness on safety topics.

The Project Leaders at Grahams stood everyone down, for an afternoon of food, ice creams, and a raffle. The teams on the project were celebrated for working safely, having achieved 355,000 hours without any reportable or lost time incident.

The Project Director provided a short presentation informing all on site of the scheme safety statistics and advised the workforce of the work still to be delivered. There was opportunity for interesting and engaging discussions with suppliers. And I provided a safety talk on Redzone Awareness, highlighting the challenges and control measures needed, with regards to the People-Plant Interface. The focus on the day remained on safety, to guarantee everyone returns home safe and well to their family.

I can’t really explain just how much I love what I do. Every day is different. I’m grateful for the people I get to meet and what they can teach me. The structures I get to see built, and the engagement from operatives when I’m teaching them the importance of safety, makes everyday interesting.

It was great to be a part of the celebration.

Happy International Womens Day from me…Woman in construction, HSEQ Champion, Safety Trainer, part-time PA, Wife and Mother.

I can honestly say, I put my heart and soul into everything that I do, and I am so proud of myself for all my achievements.

My greatest achievement being my children. I strive to empower them with the confidence and courage they need to succeed. Teaching my son and my daughter to be kind and compassionate, to respect others and be inclusive. Children are always watching, listening and learning.

Thank you to all the amazing women who’ve supported me, guided me and believed in me. In work and in my life.

Remember. Inspire others, encourage them, value them, look for that spark of potential, provide opportunities, be a role model. You never know, that one small thing you did, could have the biggest impact.
