When the scapula elevates, everything upstream and downstream compensates.

This session focused on PNF techniques and soft tissue release to down-regulate overactive tissue and restore balance.

Client left with improved positioning, reduced tension, and noticeable pain relief.

Movement is medicine — when applied correctly.

Deadlifts everywhere… lower backs not so happy 👀

With ATHX 2026 involving deadlifts, I’ve suddenly seen a spike in people “pulling” their lower backs in the gym — coincidence? Probably not.

Common Causes of LBP:
• Incorrect form
• Poor load management
• Not engaging the right muscles

Key DL cues to remember:
• Feet shoulder-width, hands just outside the legs
• Take the slack out of the bar before lifting
• Hinge at the hips — not a squat
• Engage the lats and brace the core
• Drive the floor away
• Keep the bar close to the body
• Stand tall at the top without over-extending

👉 Reminder: Deadlifts are a push, not a pull.

If you genuinely feel your form is solid but you’re still dealing with lower back pain, it’s likely a load management issue, not a technique one.

Most people crush calf raises… but only train the gastroc.
Great muscle — but not the one that usually lets you down.

If you get:
• Recurring Calf Tightness
• Achilles Niggles
• That “my lower legs fatigue way too fast” Feeling

…there’s a good chance your soleus is undertrained.

Bent-knee calf raises shift the load straight into the soleus — the deep calf muscle that actually works hardest when you walk, run, climb stairs, or push off.

Start with 15–20 slow reps.
Focus on control.
And if you’re a runner or spend a lot of time on your feet… this one’s non-negotiable.

Save this to your lower-leg routine 👣💥

Hip CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations)

They are an excellent way to maintain and improve hip joint health, mobility, and overall movement quality. They help with:

1. Joint Health
2. Improved Range of Motion
3. Strength and Stability
4. Movement Quality
5. Injury Prevention
6. Pain Management

Unlike static stretching, hip CARs are active and controlled—meaning you’re building strength at end ranges rather than just passively elongating tissue.
