As we continue with the restrictions and impact of the Coronavirus lockdown, it is essential for your mental and emotional well-being to take time to celebrate the small stuff.
Taking time to watch nature, listening to bird song or just the sound of the breeze rustling the leaves, for example, can help enormously to keep you ‘grounded’ and calm. It’s been promoted many times before; but taking time to breathe slowly, mindfully, really does help to bring about the relaxation response, clearing the mind and calming the emotions. Your blood pressure and digestion will benefit, too.
Aim to catch any tendency for negative thinking, whether about a situation or about yourself and instead channel positive thoughts, for example: l am calm, l can cope, l am safe. You will be practising positive self-hypnosis!
