A Powerful Day of Learning and Reflection 💙

Today, we had the privilege of attending the Brain Injury Recovery Conference, hosted by Irwin Mitchell at the Institute of Directors — a truly thought-provoking and impactful day.

One message that stayed with us came from Frank Chege, Patient Liaison Nurse, who spoke about “Time and family in 2026.” His words were a powerful reminder that:
“Hope is someone’s to hold onto, not ours to remove.”
A message that resonated deeply and reinforced the human side of recovery.

A huge thank you to Sarah Griggs from Irwin Mitchell for hosting such an engaging Q&A on lived experience, alongside her wonderful client Liam, whose achievements and progress were genuinely inspiring.

Thank you also to Robena Dhadda for her insightful and impactful talk on the importance of supporting communication across cultures — a vital part of truly person-centred care.

One quote that particularly resonated with us, from Mark Ylvisaker, was:
“Communication only makes sense when you understand the context of a person’s life.”

And finally, thank you to Headway East London for providing a fantastic concert and getting everyone singing and clapping along.

A day full of learning, reflection, and renewed commitment to supporting people and families affected by brain injury.

A Great Day of Connection at SIA’s Networking Event 💙

We attended Part 1 of The Resilient Leader Programme yesterday, delivered by Daaku Consulting, and it was a really valuable session.

Vicky Daaku was inspiring and made the session feel practical and relevant. We spent time understanding our strongest leadership styles and how to build on them, with a strong focus on self-awareness, accountability, and the responsibility we have as leaders — not just for results, but for people and culture too.

A couple of quotes from the day really stuck with us:

“I am not an unlimited resource.”
“Culture is not what we say we value, but what people experience when it matters most.”

Simple but powerful reminders of how important it is to lead sustainably and take responsibility for the impact we have.

Already looking forward to Part 2 in February and would definitely recommend this programme to anyone looking to develop confident, accountable, and resilient management teams.

A Fantastic Day at the Children’s Brain Injury Conference 💙

Yesterday, we had a fantastic day attending the Children’s Brain Injury Conference, run by the Brain Injury Group.

It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new ones, while taking part in such an informative and thought-provoking event. We have come away with a wealth of new knowledge, fresh insights, and valuable perspectives that will continue to shape the way we support children and families living with brain injuries.
