💜B A B Y F R I E N D S💜

How cute are these bubbas all laying on our mat together?

Something we used to love to do (pre-pandemic) is gather all of our class babies together for a group photo at the end of a course 📷

Once on the Basking Babies mat so close together, it was actually quite hard to break them up again as the babies just seemed to love being surrounded by other little ones with lots of mummy faces beaming down at them with big smiles!

Oh to be a baby! 💜

💜IT TAKES A VILLAGE💜

‘It takes a village to raise a child’ goes the old saying. And how true that is! Babies, children, parents, grandparents, extended family and friends all benefit hugely from sharing the childcare load and supporting the parents in other ways too (home cooked meal anyone?!).

Yet life today often means that our natural ‘village’ isn’t always there around us when babies are born and children are raised. Family members maybe don’t live close by, still work themselves or care for elderly relatives, friends work full time, partners also… so where does that leave the mothers and babies? So often alone, doing that hugely overwhelming task of parenting, solo.

Sadly, we don’t have a magic wand to fix this situation. BUT we do have the next best thing! 🌟 So often it has been said that our Nurture Me Baby Massage classes are the ONLY place parents have felt like they’ve really been able to connect and form friendships with other parents going through a similar time. And the friendships formed last long beyond the end of our courses. It brings us genuine joy to bump into mum friends who have met on our courses, out and about together years after we’ve taught them! Knowing we created the conditions for those little villages and support networks to form, is absolutely priceless!

🌸S U M M E R C O U R S E S🌸

Have you been enjoying the sunshine this past weekend? ☀️

We are SO happy that Spring seems to have finally sprung, and can’t quite believe it but are now taking bookings for our June Baby Massage & Baby Yoga courses!

Both course will be run on Mondays from 20th June at St Francis Church, Keynsham.

🌸Baby Yoga 11-11.45 am
🌸Baby Massage 12-1.30 pm

Baby Yoga is suitable for babies from 3m to active crawling. It is such a fun class and so full of giggles, we’ll wear your babies out with lots of movement and songs then finish with the loveliest relaxation together (*baby noises during relaxation are welcome!).

Baby Massage is the most wonderful first course to do with your little one and is suitable from birth to active crawling (basically whenever you are ready to get out and about together). You’ll both feel nurtured, nourished and likely make some life long friends on this course!

🌸Happy Bank Holiday Weekend🌸

💜 B I R T H T R A U M A 💜

Many mummas I have met over the years have experienced birth related trauma.

[Many others have experienced beautiful births - just incase you are pregnant and reading this, I don’t want to set off any irrational fears].

Did you know there are ways and means of helping our brains and body’s process the trauma we have experienced?

Do you feel that you bonded with your baby as soon as they were born? Or did it take some time to build up that connection between you both?

Did you know that both ways are completely normal and you have absolutely nothing to worry about if there wasn’t one, instantaneous moment where you ‘bonded’ with your baby?

The bonding process (note the word process, ie. something that can take a little time) is intricately linked with many of our senses - smell, sound, sight and touch.

Did you notice that powerful newborn ‘smell’ - especially your baby’s head? Did you know mothers can recognise their baby’s smell within hours, and cry within days, of being born? Did you know that newborn babies are programmed to focus on the shape of a bullseye (which corresponds to the iris of the human eye and the ni**le)? And did you know you can start, develop and deepen the bond between you and your baby using Baby Massage? It really is a magical tool that can help to aid communication and strength of bond between parent and baby - how incredible is that? ✨
