L J Guyan today took 410 Easter Eggs to Charlton Farm Hospice.

We’ve been truly touched by the kindness of our local community, who have come together to donate Easter eggs for the children and families supported by Children’s Hospice South West at Charlton Farm.

Charlton Farm provides incredible care and support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families, offering comfort, respite and precious moments together .

Thanks to these generous donations, we’re able to help bring a few extra smiles this Easter.

From all of us, thank you to everyone who contributed. Your kindness truly makes a difference. 💛

My name is Sara. I’ve been a celebrant for nearly 4 years - a job I am really passionate about.
Working with families suffering the loss of a loved one is such a huge honour, and one I take very seriously. Having said that, I’m not a formal person and have a down to earth, calm and friendly approach to my work. Having a project management background, I am also very organised and love a spreadsheet ! I am currently undertaking a Bereavement Counselling course, to gain a deeper understanding of loss, even though I’ve also had my fair share of grief, after losing my parents and both my brothers.
In my spare time, I love to be creative and enjoy painting - and I teach a small Mixed Media class once a month.
However, I know that being a Celebrant is the career I was meant to do and I’m so glad I found it.“

We had the honour of helping a family celebrate the life of a much loved lady in a truly personal and touching way.

As a beautiful tribute to her memory, her family chose a floral penguin arrangement, a heartfelt symbol of the special nickname lovingly given to her by her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Penguin.”

These deeply personal touches are so important, reflecting the love, memories, and unique bonds shared within a family. It was a privilege to help create a farewell that so beautifully captured the love between a grandmother and her grandchildren. 🐧💐

Hello, I’m Duncan.

Before becoming a celebrant, I spent 25 years as a secondary school teacher, including time as a Head of Sixth Form. Standing up in front of people and finding the right words has always been a big part of my life, but it’s in this work that those words really matter.

Being invited into a family’s life at such a difficult time is something I never take for granted. I take time to listen, to understand, and to gently bring together the stories, the character, and the little details that make each person unique. No two lives are the same, and I believe no two funerals should be either.

I’m not especially formal, and I tend to bring a calm, friendly and grounded presence. Families often tell me they feel at ease, which matters, because the best ceremonies, for me, are the ones where people can reflect, remember, and occasionally even smile at the memories being shared.

Outside of work, I live in a Wiltshire village with my partner, and enjoy being part of the local community. I’ve always loved music and being around people, and I think that sense of connection finds its way, gently, into the way I shape and deliver a ceremony.

For me, this role is about telling someone’s story with honesty, warmth, and care, and helping families say goodbye in a way that truly feels right for them.
