Three weeks ago, on the very first day of my holiday in Zante, I suffered several heart attacks.
I was flown to Athens, where I underwent corrective surgery before the long road to recovery in a foreign country.
I’m not sharing this information for sympathy. I’m sharing it because I truly believe that two things saved my life:
1️⃣ The Wim Hof Method — which trains your body and mind to handle stress and stay calm under pressure.
2️⃣ First Aid Training — having the knowledge and confidence to act clearly in those critical moments before help arrives.
When doctors investigated, they found that one of my heart’s arteries — the posterolateral branch — was 99% blocked.
In simple terms, that means the blood flow to part of my heart was almost completely cut off. The fact that I’m still here is something I’ll never take for granted.
If you know me, or you’ve been a student of mine, you’ll know how much emphasis I put on preparation and practice.
As the instructor, I’ve always taught the value of staying calm, focused, and in control — but this time, my mindset was truly tested in ways I never expected.
The Wim Hof Method helped me steady my breathing and manage my body’s stress response, while my First Aid knowledge gave me the focus and understanding to respond clearly through the chaos, and it was chaos.
I impart these lessons in every course I teach, be it Wim Hof, Security, or, above all, First Aid.
It’s about being ready, staying calm, and knowing how to react when life suddenly changes.
💙 I want to give extra thanks to my beautiful wife Shelley, my sister Ann-Marie, and my brother-in-law Robert — their love, strength, and support through every stage of this made all the difference.
I’m home now, recovering well, and full of gratitude — for life, for family, and for the practices that kept me alive.
In fact, I’ve come back fitter than when I left — with a reconditioned heart, giving me a second chance and a stronger beat than before.
The reason I’m sharing this story is simple — to encourage you to train and to learn how to prepare, react, and respond. Whether it’s through breathwork, the mindset of the Wim Hof Method, or first aid—these tools save lives.
They saved mine.
All the love, All the power
