Just had a message from the brilliant songstress-turning-SLT … apparently my face has been spotted in an old book in the university library 😍😆

Such a lovely, unexpected reminder of past projects. I’m really proud of the years I spent collaborating with Sue Jones on the development and research behind the Singers’ Endoscopy Protocol — building on the early work by Sue and Dane Chalfin — and of the chapters I later contributed to in Sue’s fantastic book.

It was a huge team effort, a lot of hard work, and one of those projects that truly shapes you.

Following My Passion 🎤💛

My husband and I have poured our hearts (and plenty of late nights!) into following a shared passion - helping voice users everywhere consider their nutrition as a vital part of their vocal care routine.

As a Voice Specialist SLT and singing coach, I see every day how much our voices rely on whole-body wellbeing - hydration, rest, emotional balance, and yes… what we fuel ourselves with.

That’s why we created VitaVoice Optimise 💊
A powerful supplement bursting with evidence-backed ingredients like Ashwagandha, Elderberry, Panax Ginseng, Vitamin C, B12, Zinc, and more — to support:
✨ Immunity
✨ Focus and mental clarity
✨ Energy and performance
✨ Reduction of low-grade chronic inflammation (one of the biggest, and most overlooked, contributors to voice issues!)

Whether you’re a singer, teacher, actor, therapist, coach or speaker, your voice is your livelihood and it deserves to be nourished from the inside out. 🌿

We truly believe that optimised health = optimised performance, and we’re so proud to be part of your journey to sustainable, vibrant vocal health.

🎶 Here’s to strong, focused, and resilient voices — for life, not just the gig.

🎤💛 Healthy Voices, Happy Kids! 💛🎤

I’ve put together this fun, easy-to-follow Healthy Voice Care Habits poster for children. Perfect for parents, teachers, and little singers to keep voices feeling strong and happy!

From staying hydrated 💧 to taking “voice rest” moments 🤫, these simple habits can make a big difference in protecting growing voices.

I’m hoping it’ll be helpful to others - whether your child loves to sing, shout, or chat all day long! 🗣️🎶

✨ Let’s help the next generation learn that caring for their voice is just as important as caring for their body and mind.

📎 Save, share, and pop it on your classroom wall or fridge! Hope it’s helpful!

✨ The Joys of Resonant Voice Therapy ✨

Resonant Voice Therapy might look simple on the surface - humming, gentle sound play, feeling for that easy vibration in the face - but in reality, it’s a masterclass in nuance.

Behind every “mmm” and “ng” is a therapist carefully tuning their own voice to meet the client’s needs - modelling just the right resonance, tone, and pitch.

For example: last week, I matched my pitch closer to that of my 12-year-old client rather than using my usual speaking voice. That subtle shift makes the exercises accessible, achievable, and most importantly, safe for her developing voice.

It’s one of those quiet little therapist superpowers - the ability to fine-tune, adapt, and co-create sound so that behaviour change feels natural, playful, and empowering. 💛🎶

🎤✨ Get Your Wiggle On! ✨🎤

Tour life, travel days, rehearsals, and long hours on the road can leave your body feeling tight, tense, and a little out of sync.

Before you dive into soundcheck or warm-ups, take 2 minutes to wiggle it out and stretch!

💃 Shake through your whole body
🕺 Reach the arms up and stretch to the sides
🦵 Bounce through the knees
🫁 Breathe in through your nose and blow it out - long slow exhalation through pursed lips

This isn’t just for fun! A quick movement reset helps release built-up tension, improve circulation, and reconnect your breath to your body.

Your voice LOVES it when your body feels free.

So wherever you are - backstage, hotel room, airport lounge - get your wiggle on and let that energy flow! 🌍🎶

🎶 How ear tubes (aka grommets) can help young singers find their voice 👂

When a child has glue ear (fluid behind the eardrum), sounds become muffled - a bit like hearing through water. This makes it harder to match pitch, tune their voice, and develop clear speech.

Tiny ear tubes (grommets) help drain that fluid and restore normal hearing. Once hearing is clear, children can:
🎵 Hear pitch and tone accurately
🗣️ Develop clearer speech and pronunciation
💫 Sing with more confidence and control

Healthy hearing means children can fully enjoy music, learning, and vocal play - essential steps in growing a confident, expressive voice!

🌟 Celebrating My Incredible Clients 🌟
Every week I’m reminded how much you - my clients - are the true heroes of this work. 💛

This wonderful feedback (shared with permission) came from someone who, after thyroid surgery, faced the challenge of rediscovering her voice:

“After thyroid surgery, I was struggling to get my voice back and realised just how much tension my body had been holding onto. Working with Carrie has been absolutely transformative... The breathing and grounding exercises she taught have become part of my daily routine - they’ve made such a difference both personally and professionally.”

Voice therapy is always a partnership. I can guide, support and offer tools, but it’s the commitment, courage and consistency of my clients that bring about real transformation. 🙌

To everyone who’s shown up, trusted the process, and put in the work - I see you, I’m so proud of you, and you inspire me every single day. 💫

🎤✨ Working with singers will always be my passion. Helping people reconnect with their sound, refine their technique, and rediscover the joy in their voice.

Everyone benefits from a little fine-tuning from time to time, even the most seasoned performers! 🌟

I spent the afternoon yesterday at Neon Studios, Walsall, with a lifelong superstar performer who embodies dedication, artistry, and heart. What a privilege to do what I love, surrounded by incredible talent. 💛

🎨 A Voice in Two Parts: Now and Next

This striking artwork was created today by a client during a therapeutic voice session. They were invited to explore how their voice feels now — and how they hope it might feel in the future.

🖼️ On the left, they have depicted their experience as a singer today:
A “vice grip” sensation around the throat… rigid waves and sharp colours capturing the anxiety and tension that often take over when they try to sing. They spoke of “sharp thoughts” interrupting their ability to sing — a constant battle between body and mind.

🖼️ On the right, their hopes for the future:
A calmer throat. A calmer mind. Ease, flow, and the ability to sing without fear. The colours soften, their lines loosen and become more ‘creative’ and fluid — an image of voice as a peaceful extension of self, rather than a struggle.

This artwork speaks volumes about the emotional landscape of singing. Voice therapy isn’t just about technique — it’s about listening to the whole person, including the parts that don’t always have words yet.

🧠🫁❤️ Sometimes, voice healing begins with being seen.
