This isn’t falling off.
This is a planned break.

Our members are still training this week, just differently.

Getting the body moving.
Enjoying the mood and energy boost that exercise gives.
Keeping basic habits ticking over.

Because lying about all day and eating yourself into oblivion doesn’t feel good, it just leaves you sluggish, flat, and annoyed at yourself.

So we move.
We train.
We feel better for it.

Then from January 5th, we’re locked back in:
• Structure
• Accountability
• Nutrition tightened back up
• Clear focus on results

Nothing extreme.
Just consistent, well coached work done properly.

This might surprise some people.

I talk for a living.
I coach people every single day.

But put me in an unfamiliar room, stick a camera in front of me, or ask me to speak outside my comfort zone… and my nervous system can go into overdrive.

Throat tightens.
Heart races.
Thoughts scramble.

It’s frustrating, because I know what I want to say, and I’ve allowed my body’s response to stop me stepping into certain opportunities.

I want to be clear about something though.

I don’t have this figured out.
I’m not at the end of the journey.
I’m right at the start.

I deal with negative self-talk, self-doubt and imposter syndrome more than people probably realise.

But instead of pretending it’s not there, or avoiding situations that make me uncomfortable, I’ve decided to actually work on it, properly.

That’s why I’ve started working with .

Week one. Early days. Plenty to learn.

This mirrors exactly how we do things at Hybrid.

Most people who walk through our doors are nervous, intimidated and unsure of themselves.

We don’t tell them to “just be confident”.

We let them know it’s normal and we meet them where they’re at.

You don’t need to have it all sorted to start.
You just need to start.

If you’re banking on January to suddenly “get your life together”

I’ve got bad news 👀

Most people who wait until January… end up waiting again next December.

Here’s the truth👇
You can enjoy Christmas, eat well, have a few big nights, AND still look after yourself at the same time.

It’s not one or the other.

My own rule this time of year:
• never 2 bad meals in a row
• stay hydrated
• keep training (even if it’s shorter)
• move daily
• don’t abandon the habits that actually make you feel human

These aren’t chores, they’re the things that protect your mood, energy, confidence and mental health during a busy month.

And if you keep even ONE foot in the game now… January is just a continuation, not a painful restart.

Trust me, I’ve done the “full slide” before and it’s absolutely soul destroying trying to climb back out in January.

Not doing it again.

If you want to quietly start now, get a head start and at least tick ONE box (like training) then come January you just tidy up nutrition.

Don came to Hybrid after years of trying home workouts that only left him sore and frustrated. No structure, no plan, and definitely no sense of belonging.

Seven months later… he’s stronger, fitter, and way more confident, not just in the gym, but in day to day life.

And honestly, his confidence started showing when he became a proper messer in sessions 😅 something he’d never have done when he first walked in the door.

His progress has been unreal, but watching him relax, belong, and bring energy to the room has been even better.

Ach it’s Christmas…
Aye, that’s exactly what everybody says right before they abandon ship and undo everything they’ve spent all year trying to build.

Look, I’ve more experience than most at falling off the wagon and crawling back on again.

I’m not preaching from a mountain, I’m talking from the trenches.

The problem isn’t Christmas.
It’s the “ah well, sure it’s December” mentality.

People genuinely think that something magical happens on January 1st, that they’ll wake up suddenly motivated, disciplined, reborn and ready to become a new person…
after spending 3–4 weeks burning the house down.

But habits don’t reset like that.
Habits take time.
Habits serve you, even when life gets busy.

And here’s the truth:
I’m going to eat more and drink more over Christmas too.
Absolutely I am.
I’m not living like a monk, and neither should you.

But letting your hair down doesn’t mean you have to lose the run of yourself.

If you had a small fire in the kitchen, you wouldn’t walk round the rest of the house pouring petrol “because sure it’s already ruined.”

Yet that’s exactly how most people treat their health in December.

Your minimum standards still matter:
• Get 2–3 sessions in
• Hit your steps
• Drink your water
• Move your body
• Don’t completely switch your brain off

These aren’t punishments.
They’re investments.

They give you more energy, they stop you seizing up, and they stop you rolling into January feeling like a broken toy.

You don’t need perfection.
You just need effort.

Motivation is like a sugar rush — it feels amazing, but it doesn’t last.

Most of the people we work with walk in on Day 1 feeling nervous.
Worried they'll be the most unfit.
Worried they'll hold the group back.
Worried they’ll make a show of themselves.
But here’s what actually happens:

They show up.
They get through the first session — even if it’s tough.
They realise nobody's judging them, and that the people around them get it.
And then something small shifts.
They leave with their head held higher than when they came in.

Not because they’ve changed physically yet —
