๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ Foot Patrols in Eckington & Ridgeway - Off Road Motorbikes๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

PCSO Rawson and PCSO Furmidge have been out on foot patrol in the Eckington and Ridgeway area, focusing on Eckington Secondary School, Eckington woods and the Never Fear Dam area following reports of off-road motorbikes.

We have received a number of complaints from local residents regarding off-road motorbikes in these locations. As a result, we are currently working on setting up joint operations with our Off-Road Motorbike Team and South Yorkshire Policeโ€™s Off-Road Motorbike Team to tackle the issue.

These patrols are part of our ongoing efforts to detect and prevent crime, provide reassurance to the community, and address the concerns raised by residents.

If you have any information or concerns about off-road motorbike activity in the area, please continue to report it to us.

Today, we celebrate the incredible women within our policing family โ€“ officers, PCSOs, staff and volunteers โ€“ whose dedication, strength and compassion make a real difference in our communities every single day.
From supporting vulnerable people, to problem-solving in our neighbourhoods, to leading teams and driving change across the force, the women in policing continue to show courage, professionalism and passion in everything they do.
We also want to recognise and thank our male colleagues for their continued support, allyship and commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Policing is strongest when we stand together.

๐Ÿ“ขA message from your local Inspector ๐Ÿ“ข

Hello, Iโ€™m Inspector Matthew Brown, and I am proud to serve as the Local Policing Inspector for North East Derbyshire and Bolsover, supporting the wide and diverse communities that make up our area.

My 17โ€‘year policing career across two forces has been consistently operational and frontโ€‘facing, and I have previously worked within this locality. This experience has given me a strong understanding of our communities, their needs, and the challenges we face together.

I have recently returned to the area following a central secondment, where I supported work on the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee and preparations for the upcoming increase in Neighbourhood Police Officers across the country. This uplift will be felt in our communities imminently, and I am committed to ensuring these programmes are delivered effectively, with the public placed firmly at the centre of our priorities.
To see the current policing priorities for your area, as well as information on how and where you can meet your local policing team, please visit:

We also invite you to help shape future local priorities by completing the Community Voice survey:

Your feedback is invaluable and plays a key role in informing and renewing our neighbourhood policing priorities.

Throughout 2026, I look forward to keeping you updated on the work we are doing locally and how we are addressing the issues that matter most to you and your community.

Yellow zig-zag lines outside schools indicate the length of road where stopping or waiting is strictly prohibited the reason for this is to keep children and families safe.

Tactile paving consists of a pattern of raised surface, this can be dots, bars, or lozenge bumps to warn people with sight loss of any dangers or obstacles they may be approaching, such as a crossing or steps and must not be obstructed at any time.

Yellow lines are used in areas where vehicles are not allowed to park up and wait or load and mean the following:
Double yellow lines parallel to the kerb - no waiting at any time.
A single yellow line parallel to the kerb - waiting is not allowed at certain times, as shown on a nearby sign.

Time limit parking signs are vehicle parking information times used for the purpose of controlling in car parks and parking spaces to let drivers know they have a limited number of hours and minutes to park their vehicle.

You must not park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines. You must not overtake the moving vehicle nearest the crossing or the vehicle nearest the crossing which has stopped to give way to pedestrians.

PCSO Furmidge & PCSO Dixon have had a busy shift today,

๐Ÿšจ It started off with hi visibility patrols, this is important to check our areas that have been affected by anti-social behaviour on the previous night and any other areas of concern. This was both in Killamarsh and the Eckington areas.

๐Ÿšจ First official stop was at St Peters & St Pauls Church at Eckington for the coffee morning (and before anyone asks, one of the officers doesn't even like hot drinks, and they didn't supply the donuts ๐Ÿ˜€)

๐Ÿšจ Then it was off to Ebenezer Gospel Hall for there coffee event, it was great to see so many smiling faces, it also helped that the sunshine made an appearance! โ˜€๏ธ

๐Ÿšจ From there, in the afternoon they went to the Warm Space at St Giles Church Hall, this is running until the 24th March. The officers received a 'warm' welcome. (see what we did there?) This is a great initiative where locals can go for hot drinks and some lovely treats!

๐Ÿšจ It was really good to engage and speak with so many people; both officers are on throughout the week so let's see what the shifts will bring! ๐Ÿ˜

๐Ÿš“We get lots of invites to events like these and they are part of our regular drop in's if our shifts allow. It is lovely to get out into our community and meet lots of people, if you have any events, you would like us to attend for crime prevention advice or any help at all, don't hesitate to get in touch with us. ๐Ÿš“

๐Ÿšจ PC Wheelwright and PCSO Furmidge had another busy shift last night ๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿš” It started off updating all the informants for the incidents they were involved with the day before.

๐Ÿš” PCSO Furmidge spent the first part of her shift on the phone collaborating with partner agencies to make them aware of the local issues we are getting with ASB in the area, what we can do to help local residents and what we can do together going forward.

๐Ÿš” PC Wheelwright updated all her crimes which included updating the victims involved. We can't always give the public the answers or outcomes they would like but they were all appreciative of the work that has been put in ๐Ÿ™‚

๐Ÿš” Due to the issues of anti-social behaviour the night before, patrols were conducted in the areas involved, this included Fir Road, Eckington and Stead Street Park, Eckington. Thankfully no issues were reported on this occasion. We also patrolled other areas where previously we have had issues with anti social behaviour, like some of the abandoned properties that we have as well as Killamarsh Active and the Parish offices.

๐Ÿš” Later that evening both officers attended an address which was involved in a previous Dog vs Dog incident.

๐Ÿš” Throughout the shift PC Wheelwright was heavily involved in some work helping other forces (Notts, South Yorks and Humberside) by supplying them with information on suspects and vehicles that have been in our area committing crime. These suspects and vehicles are now operating in there area or are wanted by the above forces.

๐Ÿš” They even managed at the end of the shift to do a little 'sneaky' intelligence gathering for some more Cannabis grows!

Both officers are on the late shift again tonight so if you see them, come and say hello, we are always happy to speak to people, it's the best part of our job! ๐Ÿ˜

PC Wheelwright and PCSO Furmidge had a busy shift last night,

๐Ÿšจ It started off visiting a vulnerable person in Killamarsh after a concern was raised, it was lovely to spend some time with her and concerns have been eased.

๐Ÿšจ We checked out an abandoned vehicle at Renishaw.

๐Ÿšจ They then went on a CCTV hunt after Intel they received last week.

๐Ÿšจ Dealt with an ASB job at Fir Road, Eckington involving a group of youths, who were advised to move on and not hang around there in future. By standing where they do, this is intimidating to some and it will put them off going into the shop or to the flats that are above the shops.

๐Ÿšจ This was then followed by another ASB incident at Stead street Park, Eckington, again they were advised to move on and not access the park after dark, we get complaints about this area regularly. If these are your kids can you please remind them that the park is closed after dark?

๐Ÿšจ We then on patrols came across a possible drink driver, unfortunately he got away however officers know who he is and will be dealt with retrospectively!

๐Ÿšจ Their last job to complete for the shift when they were back at the station was to complete the paper work!

It was really good to engage and speak with so many people; both officers are on the late shift again tonight so let's see what the shift will bring! ๐Ÿ˜
