Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) number 6 has just gone live!!!
It is located on the right-hand side of the Rural Life Centre within the Dean Castle Country Park. It is available 24/7, 365. The ambulance service will give out the access code if it is required in an emergency.
This PAD launch is particularly poignant, as the device has been donated by Des and James Beynon from Solihull, England, in memory of their daughter Lisa, who passed away suddenly in August of 2024. We hope that Des and James can visit the site soon and see the device in situ. Lisa’s friend Allan would like to say a few words in tribute to Lisa a.k.a. "Inky Da Cat"…
“Hi, my name’s Allan, and I’m Andy’s partner – Andy has contributed immensely to the Southcraig & Dean Community, by crowdfunding, organising, and generally cajoling similarly community-minded folks into supporting his goal; to create a network of Publicly Accessible Defibrillators in our local community.
Lisa Beynon, a.k.a. Inky Da CaT was a similar soul; selfless, caring, kind and loving to a fault. She was integral to the UK, Europe, and global electronic music community; always encouraging others to create, perform and participate. And she was a very, very dear friend of mine.
She passed away suddenly in August 2024, aged 52, of a heart attack. She is sorely missed by many, many people. Her spirit lives on in the online music communities she so lovingly and carefully nurtured.
On becoming aware of Andy’s crowdfunding efforts, her parents generously donated this defibrillator in the hope that, if it could save just one life, that Lisa would continue to make a difference, and leave behind her a legacy of love and care.
The residents of Kilmarnock will benefit directly from this incredible human being – I’d like to thank Des and James Beynon personally for their generosity and thank Inky for continuing to be the absolute legend that she was, is, and forever will be.
”
We’ve gone from 1…to 6 PAD's in 5 months!
This is an amazing achievement which has only been possible thanks to everyone's generosity.
Thanks for Paddy and team at the Dean Castle for taking on the responsibility of carrying out regular checks, to make sure the PAD is emergency ready, and thanks to Paul at Consilium for installing the cabinet free of charge.
