In all honesty I didn't have many appointments with this client - she was exeptionally committed to her self care and had had a previous hip replacement so was prepared.

Most of our time together focused on Pain management and reducing any restrictions in movement as one of her main aims was to keep moving and getting back to gym.

12 months on her mobility is amazing and her scar is quite beautiful.

With Mothers Day approaching I’ve put together a Mother’s Day voucher offer.

This time it can be more of a relaxing massage or if she prefers we can go with a firm pressure. It will include a heated eye mask and a blend of aromatherapy oils.

Drop me a message and I can arrange to get a voucher to you in plenty of time.

This is a before and during of a client I have been working on recently.

We use Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage techniques specifically adapted to post op, alongside scar work. Once the scar is ready we can bring in advances techniques to improve outcomes in pain, movement and appearance.

The client quickly reduced weight by two stones post surgery and the scar is looking great!

It can be scary thinking about touching your scar but it can be reassuring having a professional help along the way - eventually showing you techniques you can use daily at home - all at your own pace.

It's almost time for the start line.....

For all the Glasgow Hyrox athletes there will be post event massage available through Athletes Angels and Team McMillan at the finish line.

For those running for Team MacMillan it's free - for anyone else they will ask for a donation.

I'll be there on Thursday with the team to put you back together...

There is also still time to book for post event massage with me in Kilmaurs.

Do you have an older scar?

We can still make improvements....

Benefits could be:
Improved mobility: Reduces tightness and pulling, allowing for better movement.
Reduced symptoms: Alleviates pain, sensitivity, numbness, and itching.
Better appearance: Can lead to a softer, flatter, less puckered scar.

When to start?
Early intervention (within the first 6-12 months) is ideal for cosmetic results, but it's never too late to treat older scars.

Who can benefit?
Anyone with scars from surgery (e.g., abdominal, breast, joint replacements, spinal), burns, deep cuts, or skin grafts.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a very gentle, specialised massage technique using light, rhythmic, skin-stretching strokes to stimulate the lymphatic system, encouraging lymph fluid to move from swollen areas, clear waste products.

It can assist your system to reduce inflammation, and support the immune system, often used for lymphedema, post-surgery swelling, and detoxification.

Unlike deep massage, it works just under the skin, guiding fluid towards healthy lymph nodes around the body.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is now available for pre and post operation.

It's also a great option if you prefer a lighter, more rythmic massage

Some great resources about how to understand pain and live better with it.

I’ve got paper copies in my room that you can pick up anytime.

Flippin' Pain have recently made a slight update to one of their key messages.

The message "Persistent Pain is common and can happen to anyone" is still true but the update highlights that there is a huge amount of misinformation out there about chronic pain.

The updated message is:
"Persistent Pain is common and commonly misunderstood"

We regularly hear from people living with pain that others, including healthcare professionals don't understand their persistent pain. Also, the information we know now about pain can be difficult to understand to begin with, and people still get conflicting information.

Check out some of these resources to find out more about chronic pain and how we can understand it better and by understanding it, help us live better with pain.
