🖤 Meet The Magpie Centre — RDA West Norfolk 🖤

At The Magpie Centre, part of West Norfolk Riding for the Disabled, we use the power of horses and ponies to support people of all ages and abilities - offering therapy, confidence-building, achievement and pure joy. 🐴✨

📍 Based at beautiful Wallington Hall, West Norfolk, we’ve been a dedicated RDA riding centre for over 30 years, welcoming riders and drivers from age 5 to adult with a wide range of needs.

🌟 What we offer:
• Therapeutic horse riding and carriage driving lessons - tailored to individual needs and abilities.
• Equine-Assisted Learning Therapy (EALT) - structured sessions to build confidence, communication and emotional wellbeing.
• Tea with a Pony & quiet equine interaction - gentle, calming experiences for wellbeing.
• Alternative provision & learning opportunities - where equines and the great outdoors support emotional, social and life-skills development.

💛 Whether a child is navigating trauma, anxiety, neurodiversity (like ADHD or autism), physical disabilities, or learning challenges - our centre creates a safe, supportive, inclusive community where every person can grow, feel seen, and thrive.

Ava headed off to her wonderful new home today. After 8 amazing years as part of the Magpie Centre family, it was time for her to enjoy a one-to-one home where she’ll be truly pampered. 💕

Thank you, Ava, for everything you’ve given to our riders, volunteers and team. Wishing you all the love and luck in this next chapter. ✨

Huge thanks again to the team at The Aylsham Show! We are so proud to have been part of the evening and surrounded by organisations all fighting to make a difference!

More than £20,000 has been donated to Norfolk charities and community groups following the success of the 2025 Aylsham Show.

Some of our staff and volunteers took part in first aid training yesterday — a mix of refresher sessions and brand‑new learning. 🩹

It was a really informative day with Aid Training, helping everyone stay confident, prepared, and ready to look after our riders and each other.

A big thank‑you to everyone who took part, and to Aid Training for delivering such a valuable session. 🩺

Updates from our Equine Assisted Therapy Team🐴

This week we have enjoyed rolling in action with the therapy horses.

Horses only lie down where they feel:
👍Physically comfortable,
👍Socially safe,
👍Undisturbed
👍Free from pressure (the exception being ill health)

One of our wonderful volunteers took to the saddle on Harry and enjoyed a brilliant hack around the centre today. After a few years away from riding, she wanted to build on her confidence, and today was a big positive step forward! ✨

Harry was his usual steady self, and it was great to see her enjoying being back in the saddle 🐴

Ava – 16.3hh Irish Draft Horse, 18yo Grey Mare
£4,995

Ava is a 16.3hh Irish Sports Horse cross, 18‑year‑old grey mare. She has spent the past eight years in our RDA centre and has been ridden by a wide range of riders, from complete novices to more experienced.

Ava has taken part in dressage, cross country, show jumping and pleasure rides. She is great to hack both alone and in company.

Up to date with vaccinations, teeth, saddle checks etc. Good for the farrier. Snaffle mouthed. Lives out 24/7.

We feel Ava has completed her time in the RDA setting and would now benefit from a one‑to‑one home.

This is an extremely sad sale and not one that we have taken lightly, and she will only go to the very best home.
