🌟 What an honour to witness meditation being embraced as a life skill!
I was thrilled to be invited to share Sound Meditation sessions as part of the South Hams Junior Life Skills Days.
Over 300 children, across two days, in Dartmouth & Kingsbridge, lay together in stillness, settling, resting, listening, and breathing consciously. It was truly powerful.
When I work with children and young people, we often talk about the game Minecraft. Did you know the game’s soundtrack features handpan music? This always sparks curiosity, and from that, we dive into discussions about “Mind Craft” the idea that, through meditation, we are crafting our minds to meet life’s challenges with more calm and clarity.
“In the midst of difficulties, we need to rely on our deepest wisdom and true love.”
Meditation is one way we can do this and I’m deeply passionate about sowing the seeds of mindful meditation with children. It gives them tools to self-regulate, access their inner wisdom, and understand their feelings as they navigate life.
Research into children’s meditation is overwhelmingly positive and far-reaching. “Studies show that mindfulness practices can improve attention, emotional regulation, and reduce anxiety in children.” (Harvard Health)
Thank you South Hams Junior Life Skills for this opportunity.
It was awesome! (Photo from past School session).
