Happy New Year!!
Whatever happens in 2026, remember you get out what you put in. Crap happens but opportunities aren't going to greet you on your couch and life is far too short to be spending it waiting for things to come to you.
Things are much less scarier then they seem and trust me you are capable of far more then you believe.
From my house to yours, all the best for 2026, make it one to remember ❤️

3 years ago I decided my christmas present to myself was a gastric sleeve. It not only changed my life, it saved it.
My eyes show how unbelievably depressed and lonely I was and how worn out I'd become living in my prison of a body everyday.
Life couldn't be any more different now. It still has its battles but I'm so glad the days of despair when opening my eyes each morning have gone.

From my house to yours Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Whatever it looks like for you take care and remember it's only one day. Either a day to make memories or a day that your can most definitely get through ❤️

6 weeks post op 🥳
No more dressings, tape, inadine patches or the devil binder that I had to wear 24/7 for the full 6 weeks.
Significant decrease in the pain in my hips, knees and back and generally just so much more comfortable in my own skin.
I really don't care about the scars. The scars tell my story and every metaphorical and literal mountain I had to climb to get here.

Final appointment with my consultant!
He said that mine was the biggest operation he's done this year and that my fupa weighed more then he's removed off most people's stomachs!!!!!
He thinks my last couple of swellings are stitches pushing out as my bodies rejected them, as one came out the other day.
I'm allowed to do long walks now and cycling and swimming but have to hold off on running and clubbercise until the new year.
I got to see a photo of me sliced open which is equally gross and fascinating! I also got to see the hernia which was definitely gross! He said that does need a specialist as its in the same spot as my previous two.
But for now I'm really happy with the results and will continue to enjoy them 😊

I'm conscious I've been some what AWOL. Tbh I felt pretty miserable and I was annoying myself being so grumpy and didn't want to spread the misery.
Surgery wise things are okay, 4 dodgy stitches are down to 2 but one has created a bit of a hole. I'm seeing my surgeon again on Tues so we'll see.
Life is moving slowly. But I feel like I'm taking the baby steps to getting my head in a better place which is always a positive.
I feel more able to face some challenges that have been brewing since before surgery, so I'm starting with the little things and building up. I know my head and know if I rush things I tend to crash. So as they say, slow and steady wins the race!
The unimpressed sausage continues to be my support animal whether he likes it or not 😂

A different hospital today. My surgeon unfortunately found a hernia when he was operating that was too complicated for him to repair at the time of my skin removal surgery.
I've not really wanted to think about it. Just having had surgery and this potentially being my 6th abdominal surgery hasn't been great for my head.
I've got to have a CT scan so they can make a plan. Guess I won't have my smooth stomach for long!

Today I'm reminding myself that recovery may be a physical and emotional rollercoaster, but it was 100% worth it!

Meh is probably appropriate for the last few days.
Stress through the roof and sitches refusing to heal meant I needed a baking distraction. It came out okay apart from bluey looking like she's been hammering arm day!
The stubborn stitches are really hampering my recovery and its very difficult to not get down about it. I've also noticed that I have a phantom flap! My stomachs not there anymore but it still feels like it is! Its a very odd sensation!

Well I was correct that chucking up 3 weeks after surgery is not good. My stitches are sore today and when I changed my dressings ive got a lump and two more small openings. Its been an emotional day!
I'm glad I can technically do more, but technically compared to reality is very different. I'm managing to do a bit more but its tiny compared to how much I'd normally do.Throw in a bunch of monthly hormones and you get a very tearful couple of days.
I did get very excited going to a small supermarket yesterday. Then quickly got very panicky because it was much busier then expected and people kept bumping into me!

A wise man once said to me that you shouldn't live in the past, but you should look back every now and again to see how far you've come.
I feel every emotion looking at these photos. I kept one pair of trousers from my biggest, just to remind me of the fact that things can change. Even the things you think are impossible.
