We ended our Christmas school holidays with a little getaway to Robin Hoods Bay, here are some of the highlights!
Just an hour and a half drive from Hull but it feels like a different world here.
We've been in Summer with the kids but this time we went on our own! A very very rare thing to happen but really nice to do some decent walks without any moaning.
We walked south on the Cleveland Way coastal path towards Ravenscar one day. The paths have been recently repaired and improved and walking was good underfoot. We stopped at the Boggle Hole YHA for a drink which is an amazing place to try.
The second day we woke to a snowstorm so decided not to walk the coast path but instead used the Cinder Track to walk to Whitby and back. Its 10km each way so you can walk/cycle one way and bus back, or brave both directions. Its a good flat path with incredible views.
We stayed at North Ings - Robin Hood's Bay which was an amazing B&B! It is no kids and no dogs though so sadly we wont be staying in the Summer with the teens and pup (but will be starting to ask now for my mum to babysit again so we can return on our own!).
We had a great meal out at Brambles Bistro and also really enjoyed drinks at the Smugglers, both right by the sea in lower RHB.
Parking in the top car parks is FREE in Winter! Which is a bonus if you want to drive up and go up for a walk at this time of year, or if you are staying in accommodation without parking.
The bus also runs every hour from Scarborough to Whitby and stops at RHB if you need public transport.
I'm sad to be back but already planning our next trip to the North York Moors National Park.
