Our Story

Founded in 2014 by Mental Health Nurse Sue Altass and Social Worker Hannah Cheshire. Inspire Ignite was set up with the aim of making a real difference to mental health by working with young people to encourage personal development, confidence, and self-esteem.

Sue and Hannah recognised through their years of working in statutory and voluntary sector mental health and addiction services that a lot of mental well-being issues encountered in later life are preventable if self-esteem and confidence are developed earlier.

They have created programmes that schools and colleges can use for all their children and young people, to help them understand what makes them tick, and learn how to make choices that have a positive impact on their well-being and the student’s future. They also have resources for parents to use at home with their children - a series of books to buy and free downloads based around their Positive Parrot and Negative Newt characters. You can find these on the website here - https://inspireignite.co.uk/newshop/

Sue and Hannah also go into businesses to train staff on mental health and wellbeing issues.
